Discussion: Reps. Ilhan Omar And Lee Zeldin Trade Blows Over Twitter, Sort Of Make Up

Reason anyone should care?

I’m sorry but Zeldin just keeps pushing…‘Do you disagree with EVERYTHING???’ and ‘WHY is she on the committee? Those ‘stupid’ Democrats!’ I’m all for questioning people on old tweets and speeches to see where they are NOW but Zeldin doesn’t seem to have moved on AT ALL.

And this is one of the many reasons I despise social media…sit down and have civil discourse? Of course not! Let’s posture for our base where all can see - policy and compromise be damned.

Having a hard time understanding why Zeldin initiated this fracas by taking a jab at her appointment unnecessarily. Where’s the good in that? It seems she was not wrong to believe she had detected the faint call of a faint dog whistle…

IIhan is my rep and she showed strength then composure. We made the right choice.

I like her tenacity. And as she said, she won’t let anyone bully her.

Gotta love how she responded with class to someone with none.

“Crazy to watch what House Democrats are empowering…”

She’s not a “what”, Zeldin, she’s a “who” and you’re an “ass.”

Crazy to watch what House Dems are empowering/elevating.

Are. You. FUCKING. Kidding. Me.

He just called her a sand ni**er bitch, oh yes he did.

There is no getting along with vicious assholes who use KKK language to refer to a member of congress.

Don’t turn your back on him, Rep. Omar. Or on any “colleague” who tries to dismiss what he said as harmless.

I strongly discourage Rep. Omar and every other non-white, non-male, non-xian, non-repug in Congress from ever getting in the same room with that hateful KKKer.

Can we just ban Twitter already? Pretty please?? Or at least prohibit politicians from using it…jeez.

Zeldin represents Eastern Long Island which includes the Hamptons. Who knew what kind of crank calls come from there.
He probably thinks that he could get over on her because he’s part of the Middle East foreign policy establishment like AIPAC which marginalizes voices like hers which have never really been part of the discussion. Granted there were some like former Secretary of State James Baker who would nudge the Israel lobby.
Nonetheless this discussion between the congress members might become fruitful in the coming years.

Rep. Lee Zeldin clearly has issues, but his being Jewish probably means the KKK isn’t one of them.

Zeldin’s a real a-hole, isn’t he?

  1. “Crazy to watch what House Dems are empowering/elevating.” She’s not a ‘what,’ she’s a who, bucko. Cut out the dehumanizing language.

  2. “Those poor innocent ISIS fighters & Palestinian terrorists right? Give me a break!” Accusing a colleague of siding with terrorist groups - this is serious s***. Back it up or apologize, a-hole. In another era, this would have been pistols at dawn.

  3. “Your anti-Semitic & anti-Israel hate is strong & wrong” - got anything better than something she said 7 years ago that she’s apologized for?

  4. And you just keep pushing, will barely take ‘yes’ for an answer, there at the end. You’re scum. May this be your last term in Congress, you jerk.

I hear that creating conflict and getting in fight on twitter is the best way to get lots of followers and increase visibility. Wasn’t AOC giving twitter lessons recently to her congressional colleagues?

I’m very proud of Ilhan; we live in MN 5 and voted for her for MN House and again for Congress and had her lawn sign in the front yard both times
