Discussion: Reports: Trump To Announce Intent Next Week To Decertify Iran Nuclear Deal

The media better do a VERY thorough investigation into how he’s “decertifying” the Iran deal, who was involved, when, and there better be a massive paper trail. This administration has zero political capital to spend on anything of this important, nothing should be taken for granted.

And when the NYT comes out and says it’s ok, they need to have their work double-checked, because they lack a history of honesty in this area as well, re: Iraq.

I share your scorn for these people, but don’t forget Corker’s role in how the deal sailed through the Senate.

Senate Republicans insisted on having a “say” in the deal, despite precedent. The Obama administration agreed on one crucial condition: that any resolution be framed as a disapproval, and not an approval, of the deal.

Senator Corker agreed to those terms.

In the end, more than 40 Democratic Senators were able to block the resolution.

And now Corker, who is still Chairman for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is free from re-election concerns and openly critical of Trump. I’m hoping for his better angels to prevail.

I don’t find Will as personally repulsive as Frum and Kristol, in a physical way. But yes him too.

Right…and that’s the point. Israel is increasingly on the path towards fascism…just like us…and its right wing and leadership, like Bibi, need more crisis to generate the cultural resentment and fear that will help make it reality by providing justification. This is a fucking Xmas gift to them.

Ivana Trump in the news. She talks to Trump once a week and he asked her to be the ambassador to the Czeck Republic, her native country. She said no.

"I was just offered to be the American ambassador to Czech Republic – and Donald told me. He said, ‘Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you,’ " Trump, 68, said in a new interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.” “But I like my freedom. I like to do what I want to do, go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go. And I can afford my lifestyle. OK, why would I go and say bye-bye to Miami in the winter, bye-bye to Saint-Tropez in the summer and bye-bye to spring and fall in New York? I have a perfect life.”

She wouldn’t have been the worst appointment he’s made.

Lindsey Graham (shudder!) is in my reluctant date book sometimes. Ugh.
I feel for ya.

That is one of the most trenchant summations of the situation I have seen.

This is a classic example of one of my favorite paradigms: Better is the arch-enemy of Good Enough.

Oh Steve, you seem to need to be reminded that they were both the same. No difference. Both equally corrupt.

Have you already forgotten about emails and Benghazi and child sex rings and pneumonia?

Yet another diversion from Russian election fraud and domestic grifting investigations!

Here’s the thing about Frum. He’s been off the reservation for years. Lost his AEI gig over it. And he has had a lot of interesting, insightful, useful things about the state of the Republican Party and conservatism for quite some time now.

But the second he starts sharing his observations about the left, as he perceives it, he just takes a right hard turn over the ledge and down into Crazy Canyon. His understanding of liberals and liberalism, the far left and even the loony left are just so bizarre, so ungrounded in anything resembling empiricism, so obviously based entirely on a mass of preconceptions that he seems to have picked up from hanging around with John Birchers, that it’s like being slapped hard in the face. You’re reading along going, "uh huh, yup, yeah. Huh. Good observation. Yep. And then suddenly, it’s “Wait, what? WTF!!!?”

I’ve heard dumber ideas from the White House. All of them occurred after Jan 19 of this year.
