Discussion: Reports: Trump Aides Looking For Ways To Delegitimize Mueller's Russia Probe

Can you say ā€œobstruction of justiceā€? I can. Congress canā€™t.

Thatā€™s pure b.s.! Mueller has no mandate nor limit to what he can investigate and Trumpā€™s dunce of a lawyer well knows that. I think that Trump and his camp followers have just about reached the limit of what even many of his supporters believe. The appointment of this special counsel (SC) was a brilliant move to unmask not only the Russia connection but potential money laundering that now looks to have gone on for at least the last decade. In fact, the SCā€™s office now to Trumpā€™s chagrin is doing everything he doesnā€™t want them to look into.

Whatta chump!

Smart move, Donald! Iā€™d do the same thing. If I am ever on trial for murder, Iā€™ll make sure I have someone put a paper bag of flaming dog doo-doo on the front porch of the prosecuting attorney, with a card saying, ā€œWith Love, Dommyluc XOXOXO!ā€. I am sure that will endear me to him greatly. Hell, Iā€™ll probably get off with a light sentence of 46 consecutive life terms.

Theyā€™re desperately trying to win in the court of public (Trumpster) opinion.

This and Drumpfieā€™s talk of pardons are just showing how bad itā€™s gonna get.

They still canā€™t seem to understand that his base canā€™t save him. I honestly think Trump truly believes that 97.8% of the voters in 2016 cast their ballots for him. And the other 2.2% were illegal aliens voting for Hillary.
If Trump tries to win in the court of public opinion, heā€™ll get a death sentence.
And itā€™s also nice to know his brand is finished. Chocolate-covered cat dropping will be more popular.

I think youā€™re wrong. I think they see a political witch hunt. I think there was a story about how around 20% of people regretted their Trump vote, some of those are disappointed that he hasnā€™t been MORE batshit cray cray.

Can he do this? Pardon himself? No point in questioning if his media enablers will go along with it. But will anyone in the ā€œlaw and orderā€ party stand up to this BS?!

Good question. Itā€™s uncharted territory. Needless to say, itā€™s never been done before. As the Donald would say, ā€œitā€™s unpresidentedā€. One thing is certain, however; he canā€™t pardon himself from impeachment.

I have been liberal since I became aware of politics in grade school (Iā€™m now 65). My partner fell down the right-wing rabbit hole during the Obama administration, and is now one of those confirmed Trump supporters who canā€™t be shaken from the belief that this is all a liberal plot to discredit the Donald. I donā€™t think that there is anything that could make him come to his senses - everything just adds to the conspiracy and further confirms his distrust in the government. His Facebook friends that exist in the same bubble just reinforce each otherā€™s views. They can never be reached.

[/quote]The Democrats in Congress can and will say it. The Republicans will be ā€˜concernedā€™ that heā€™s approaching it, but wonā€™t do anything until approval is in the low 20ā€™s. Meanwhile theyā€™ll keep pushing through the conservative wish-list and squeezing out as much as they can in the time they have. Their biggest hope is for quick confirmation of as many judges as possible - and, of course, for Kennedy to retire or RBG to retire or die.

And if Trump has Mueller fired, the Republicans will Trumpsplain everything away as being completely normal.

The more stupid things Trump and his staff do and say, the more Mueller will dig.

Keep it up, orange dumb-dumb.

I seem to recall hearing that firing Mueller is not within the power of the Orange Menace. Correct me if Iā€™m wrong, but isnā€™t that Rod Rosenstein the only one that can fire him at the moment, since Sessions supposedly recused himself. Of course, they can fire Rosenstein and put someone in there to fire Mueller, but I think that would be more obstruction. Iā€™m not sure the Republicans have the courage to stand up and do anything about it, though.

I canā€™t believe Sucksatlawā€™s attorney is still letting him talk to the press.
(I believe heā€™s represented by the law firm of Howard Fine Howard LLC.)

Sounds to me like the Dumpā€™s strategy is to poke a sleeping lion with a hornets nest tied to a black mamba.
