Discussion: Reports: Trump Admin Has Been Seeking A Reason To Fire Comey Since Last Week

Woodward and Bernstein’s Deep Throat was an unhappy FBI agent. We can only hope.

If I remember right it was a guy who was denied the position of Director by Nixon.

The problem from our side is that Comey’s false testimony to Congress – grossly false – is reason enough to fire him.

So while we can piss and moan til Hell won’t have it – and we all know perfectly well that false testimony wasn’t the real reason – It doesn’t matter.

Comey gave them the perfect rational. And now just imagine who they are going to put up.

Sherrif Joe Arpaio would seem to fit the Trump mold…

How soon before we find out Giuliani was involved?

I don’t think so, Jake. The White House says they fired Comey for the way he handled the Hillary e-mails case. pparemtly, It has already leaked to the NYT that Trump ordered Sessions to come up with a reason so he could fire Comey.

The fact that Trump sent 4 emails this morning attacking the Russia investigation, then fires the guy in charge of it kinda makes it clear what this is really about.

Comey wrecked his career and reputation all to save Trump*.

What a chump.

In retrospect the Comey testimony seems to have been pushed forwarded specifically to get liberals pushing against Comey, knowing he was going to be fired today.

Six days ago Spicer said Trump had confidence in Comey:

"The president has confidence in the director,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.

But today, someone asked him again (before his firing) and Spicer wouldn’t say:

QUESTION: Does the president still have confidence, full confidence, in FBI Director James Comey?

SPICER: I have no reason to believe – I haven’t asked him. So I don’t – I have not asked the president since the last time we spoke about this.

Trump has had 100 days to fire Comey, but apparently he asked Jeff Sessions to figure out a reason to fire him last week and only today, after very damaging testimony against Trump is Comey fired. This had nothing to do with Comey’s misstatements or lies (he did try to walk it back later in the hearing and issuing a correction is what they FBI was going to do) and everythign to do with the FBI getting too close to Trump and his administrations illegal and traitorous activities.

Those officials also told the New York Times that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was ordered to find a reason to terminate Comey.

I’ll bet that that’s another order that Sally Yates would not have complied with.

Zeleny said Trump “did not necessarily have the rationale” to fire Comey when he first began discussing the possibility “but then asked the attorney general and the deputy attorney general to look for that rationale and that explanation.”

Chiselin’ Trump actually had that specific rationale months ago, but just not in the form of a letter from Sessions.

Probably this asshole:

Looks like another shoe just dropped

What I would like to know:

  1. Is this the Beginning of the End, or the End of the Beginning?
  2. How long will it take to evict that serial pathological liar from our White House?
  3. How long will it take to fumigate afterwards?

It doesn’t sound to me as though Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s recommendation was the trigger for this, in spite of the way it’s being framed (not a casual choice of words) by Mr. Trump and his administration.

If I’m correct about that, I wonder how Mr. Rosenstein will react when he realizes he’s been used.

Much like every other “friend” of Mr. Trump (e.g.: Flynn, Bannon, Comey, et al) he’s subject to ostracization as soon as the whim strikes Mr. Trump.

Trump doesn’t need a reason to do anything he decides to do. All he needs is a willing stooge to pin the blame on when the sh-- hits the fan. For months we have been expecting and assuming that Trump has reasons normal people can understand for what he says and does. But he doesn’t.
Trump is a hyper-paranoid personality. Paranoids do not have normal reasons for their actions because their actions are all based on a form of mental illness. At the same time, they create self-fulfilling prophecies because in acting on their fears they create real conditions that would scare anybody.
This is Donald J. Trump.
This is why we can stop playing his game of looking under every rock and behind every bush, and IMPEACH THE GOON as the incompetence he is.
