Actually the Impeachment bill was already in front of the House for a vote in Aug. 73 and they were preparing for the vote when Nixon abruptly resigned so the Bill of Impeachment never got voted on.

'74, and that’s true, but Nixon resigned because the votes were there to both impeach & convict, which was the message the “honorable Republicans” carried to Nixon. So it wasn’t so much that “honorable Republicans” recognized the outrageous actions of a rogue President after the SNM, and went to the President and convinced him to resign, as much as it was the unassailable mountain of evidence, backed up by the released tapes, that ensured that the votes were there in the House & Senate to make Nixon’s removal a fait accompli</>.

But even an “unassailable mountain of evidence” will not convince this Republican House to vote for Impeachment.
They are waaaaayyyy beyond reality here and deep into “Dear Leader” support territory.

Unless we torch their asses in the 2018 mid-terms in BOTH the House and Senate (not an easy task) nothing will happen to Trump. He will claim that a sitting President cannot be charged with a crime (dubious, but it all depends on who is AG at that time) AND that he can Pardon himself and all his Family. As long as Ryan is Speaker no Impeachment Bill will EVER see the light of day in the House. As long as McConnell is Senate Leader no trial would ever happen.

We face a Constitutional Crisis of unprecedented proportions here that I fear will end in a de-facto Dictatorship.
Remember, Multi-National Corporations LOVE Dictators (Fewer palms to grease that way) and they all control our media outlets, and face it, most Americans are just too busy or stupid to actually care about anything other than Who wins on NFL Sunday and if they get paid this week.

Thank you for doing the best of works! I know it seems thankless at times, but I believe its the more worthy thing we will ever do.

The AG has very little to do with that determination. Its a constitutional issue decided by the courts, and ultimately, the SCOTUS. As was revealed this weekend, some very compelling arguments were put together during Nixon’s years and again during Clinton’s term to argue against that very thing. Indeed, the standing policy at the DoJ has long been that president cannot pardon himself and can be held accountable for criminal activity.

Its far from a sure thing that Ryan even remains in the House let alone that the GOP holds the majority.

Once the House votes for impeachment, its out of McConnell’s hand. He has to hold a trial, its not an optional thing.
