I wonder who the thugs harassing voters supports? /s

We are only going to hear about harassment in the urban and suburban areas because thatā€™s where the media outlets are. What happens in the counties where the biggest town has a population of less than ten or twenty thousand will remain invisible. Particularly with this AG.

I think Roberts was rightā€¦ no need for the VRA. It worked and served its purposeā€¦so racism is over.

Surely under the tutelage of Robertā€™s, Kavanaugh will one day serve us up equally great SC decisions.

At the Lakeside Activity Center in Mesquite, Texas, election administrators received complaints of a partisan poll watcher looking over voterā€™s shoulders as they cast their ballots and questioning voters on their politics. The person was later escorted out by Mesquite Police Department officers on Monday after refusing to leave the premises, according to Pippins-Poole.

Texas law requires that any form of electioneering ā€” including passing out political literature or advocating for or against candidates or issues ā€” can only occur more than 100 feet outside a polling location. Within that distance, poll workers can kick people out for causing a disturbance. When the nuisance is farther away, Pippins-Poole instructs her poll workers to call law enforcement.

How is a poll watcher able to look over votersā€™ shoulders?

In all the elections Iā€™ve been in the only people in the voting area are the voters and the person(s) with the magic key to setup the machine for voter to use.

Voter suppression = 100% Republican

Voter intimidation = 99% Republican

Voter fraud = 100% made up by Republicans, 90% of the little there is committed by Republicans

NAME. THIS. PERSON. Full name, photo, address and where they work. These disgusting fascists need to be exposed and rooted the hell out. They have no place in our democracy and need to have the people dole out some public justice.

How else are they to watch and know who to harass, not all dems are brown and easily identified.

The GOP mustā€™ve lifted up a rock far larger than we knew to let all these creatures crawl out from under it.

Voter suppression is voter fraud.

And itā€™s the Kobach led Republicans that are engaging in this unConstitutional behavior.

That was sort of my question too.

Couldā€™ve also had pictures of fetal remains, sounds like the anti abortion wing of the fascist family.

Exactly, especially since the MSM has fired all the stringers who in the past would have been reporting these actions.

In TX, seems like there is some form of collusion taking placeā€¦any response will be the usual words to play nice.

ā€œIā€™ve been here for 30 years, and this harassment thatā€™s going on, I havenā€™t ever seen the likes of this,ā€ said Toni Pippins-Poole, the countyā€™s election director. ā€œIā€™ve seen some other things, props being used and whatnot, but nothing like this type of mentality or aggressiveness or demeaning type of actions.ā€

This is the world that Rupert Murdoch has created.

My uncle, now deceased, used to drive what I called his abortionmobile. It was plastered with all sorts of anti-abortion slogans and illustrations. He volunteered as a school crossing guard for the local public elementary and middle school (his 9 kids went to the Catholic school) and parked his van right there. Parents complained, especially about the fetal remains. When the school told him he couldnā€™t park his van there, he resigned as the crossing guard.

He was also the local leader of the John Birch Society in itā€™s day. What a surprise.

everyone should continue to treat their fellow Texans with dignity

Yeah

I had one grab my ballot out of my hands. Iā€™m very white. The guy at the ID station highlighted ā€œdemocratā€ on my ballot but was not doing the same to GOPā€™ers. When I walked to the booth a guy grabbed my ballot and said he was a legal poll watcher. Iā€™m sure he cued in on the highlighted mark on that ballot. I asked for my ballot back and was told he was checking it for errors. I told him Iā€™d knock his ass to the floor if he diodnā€™t hand it right back and he ranted about calling the Cops ( the polling station is in the Atlantic Beach city hall which houses the police ) but he did give it back. The last I saw of him he was being questioned by a police Captain. One that I do wine tastings with. She winked at me and I walked back to my car. Itā€™s not legal but they do it and with near impunity.

A certified poll watcher is allowed to be in the voting area. However, it is up to the Presiding Judge to determine where in the voting area the poll watcher is able to watch. Poll watchers are not allowed to roam around in the voting area, interact with voters, and are forbidden to watch how a voter votes. The only exception is if the voter has asked for and is receiving assistance from an election clerk. Then the poll watcher is able to watch the transaction between voter and clerk to make sure the clerk is not telling the voter how to vote.

If a poll watcher becomes a nuisance, the Judge can have that person removed either by asking them to leave or calling law enforcement. If a poll watcher was able to watch multiple people actually vote and was not hindered from doing so, then that means the Judge allowed the harassment. In those situations, the Judge should be reported and face the full penalty of law.

Seems to me that the Judge was in cahoots with the poll watcher. Infuriating but not surprising in the great state of Texas.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
