It is difficult to understand.
My own analysis: I think it is rooted in the idea that Obama was going to be some type of liberal savior (and a lot of people bought into that idea), forgetting that he had to operate in a real world, with substantial oppositionāand that a lot of that opposition was racist.
He may have been a bit naive, or relied a bit too much on the idea of bipartisanship, but those are quibbles as far as I am concerned. He did his best.
