Discussion: Reports: Kelly Told Sessions His Job Is Safe Despite Trump's Public Anger

Trump’s public nastiness is just an act he’s putting on so we think that Trump’s guilty of treason.

So do we now have President Kelly?

It appears as if Trump only wants the appearance of President but leaves the nitty gritty of the job to others.

Does it strike anyone besides me as strange that it’s the (new) chief of staff who is passing along these assurances to Sessions? Is that sort of task in his job description?

Trump needs to fire Mueller. Ergo, Sessions’ job will never be safe.

In other news, Trump has apparently swung back to the other end of the Bannon-McMaster pendulum and is considering dispatching the ladder man to take charge in Afghanistan.

The amount of restraint needed to hold his tongue, to not undercut and contradict his new Chief of Staff, is the clearest sign so far of Trump’s desperation.

The strain will be more than he can withstand, though; this will either make him invent another crisis or he will reverse course by Monday.

Huh. So are you suggesting that Kelly has assigned himself this role, knowing that Trump, for now anyway, can’t naysay him out of fear of making himself look yet more ridiculous (not to mention yet more guilty of having something to hide)?

I remember in the late stages of the campaign, when he looked sure to lose, Trump made an effort to stay on script, do what his handlers told him to, and avoid running his idiot mouth. If the prospect of losing terrified him, imagine how the prospect of being removed from office would feel.

That was my first thought! The Orange Menace seems to have a thing for being dominated by “Real Men” (Putin, Macron, Trudeau, Kelly), so now he can rid in big trucks and fire engines all day while Kelly does the grown up work.

Kelly Told Sessions His Job Is Safe Despite Trump’s Public Anger…
Ya Safe
This week, this day, this hour, this minute.
Until Mueller and his investigators start closing in and it becomes imperative to remove him.
Then all bets and guarantees are off.
Did we mention Trump is a batshit crazy paranoid?

What a cynical way to phrase it! :kissing_closed_eyes:

Wasn’t that one of the offers to one of the Vice Pres candidates?
You’ll be running things while I cut the ribbons.

The fascinating thing is that Pence is such a weak-ass loser that he was not able to secure the position of Acting President.

Maybe it’s just that Trump only respects (if that’s the right word) soldiers and marines.

But it will be tougher for him to rein it in, since by rights, he is now King Of The World, and all should bow to him.

Lawrence O’Donnell pointed out that all of PP’s anger and frustration, the need to attack others via Twitter, will build and build until he explodes into an early morning tweeting meltdown. With the sanctions bill he was humiliated into signing, Medved dragging him through the streets of Twitter, Congress just ignoring him, being exposed for lying about phone calls from the Boy Scouts and Mexico, and all the other slights (real and imagined), there’s simply no way he won’t blow his top in the next few days.

Good grief I can’t believe this is all going on in a place that is supposed to be the ultimate in professionalism.
Here we have Kelly supposedly going around to assuage Sessions who’s position may/may not be on chopping block
We have Heads of Agencies quitting or being canned
We had a guy that cursed amd called out the former WH Chief of Staff in tweets who also got the ax
Then we have Trump’s Princess daughter and son in law who have no political or government experience sitting back pretending to be doing something other than cheerleading the dad
No one seems to be able to steer this ship, they’re just playing a part

I really wish this were just a reality show. Sadly, it’s now OUR reality.

I am really liking Lawrence. He’s becoming a must watch like Rachel
He also pointed out nearly 800 diplomats kicked out and what do we hear?
Crickets
He said he is afraid of Putin.I think Putin owns him with the information on Trumps finances and how much money he is actually in hock to the Russians for.
Compromat indeed

It’s almost a form of sexual release for the Old Perv.

Yeah, well, I think in his childish mind the Presidency is turning out to be one more Christmas gift that seemed like it would be fun on TV but turned out to be boring and stupid and no fun. He’s living the life of a hunted animal. That’s not very powerful really.

Ew.
