Discussion: Reports: Boehner To Meet With Netanyahu In Israel

Discussion for article #234516

This article is missing the most basic information.

WHY is a Republican delegation of Congressmen going to Israel?

Because, if this is a Republican political event, it has nothing to do with the business of the United States of America. What actual Congressional, legislative business are these people conducting that requires the expenditure of tax money harvested from the citizens of the country?

HOW MUCH IS THIS TRIP GOING TO COST? WHERE IS THE BUDGET COMING FROM?

HOW MUCH IS THIS TRIP GOING TO COST? WHERE IS THE BUDGET COMING FROM?

Excellent question. I posted it on Twitter; if you tweet, please consider doing the same.

I think this is a political victory lap for Boehner and a good photo op for the GOP base. Nothing more.
How their party can claim to be “patriotic” is beyond me.

They show their “patriotism” by being disrespectful and disloyal to the President of the United States and by kissing the ass of an Israeli politician.

TPM:

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) will travel to Israel at the end of the month to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu …

… to plot new ways to undermine the President and America, together.

Hey, when the man who OWNS the Republican Party (Sheldon Adelson) says “Go to Israel and bask in Netenyahu’s glory” you GO (or risk his wrath and chance getting “Primaried” by an even more Fascist Tea-Bagger.

I don’t do the twitting thing.

I do have some follow-up, though:

List every congressman who is going, by name. Detailed agenda of exactly what business they are conducting that requires each and every one of them to travel physically to Israel.

I pray to Jesus, Yahweh, and Allah that the Obama Administration announces that the U.S.will no longer use its veto power to block any vote on Palestinian statehood by the U.N. Security Council. The ensuing pants soiling by Netanyahu and Republicans would be epic.

Bibi shows how partisan and weak he really is. He is throwing his hat towards a weak, drunk, feckless speaker… Good plan guys. As for the Boehner, he is demonstrating his allegiance to a foreign potentate.

I don’t really get the calculus of this visit. Boehner and the GOTP’s congressional stunt probably imperiled bibi’s reelection chances more than had he just stayed in israel and campaigned. Is bibi just a friggin moron, to thank and reward these rednecks with his time?

Schock troops?

We’re beginning to see a pattern. Boehner has a hard time anything passed in Congress. So, he’ll burnish his conservative credentials by hitching his star to Netanyahu, a man who goes out his way to disrepect the president of the US. Meanwhile the GOP goes out its way to undermine the president’s nuclear negotiations with Iran.

This is getting interesting.

Put Boehner on the no-fly list, or, better yet, don’t let him back in the country. The seditionist should be persona non grata.

I too don’t really understand what the point of the trip is. Well other than a cheap photo op.

I mean, Bibi basically used the GOP like a condom or a tissue. He got what he needed from them and now he has no further need for them, really. Anything Bibi needs at this point can most probably provided by Adelson. The American people are NOT going to go along with war with Iran. I don’t care what the ultra Right Jewish community in this country want; the majority of the American public just isn’t up for more war.

Might be a bit premature. Has Bibi put together a coalition yet?

Bibi may find that a difficult task to pull off, should Kulanu decide to screw Likud and Netanyahu.

I have a better idea: Ask your congressperson those same questions, and then ask them again when they send you non-answers. Also ask those questions as a letter to the editor of your local paper.

In other words, we need to quit tweeting, blogging, snarking, and spouting lovely bon-mots and start calling these Grand Old Prostitutes out. Do you remember the 60s? It is so much easier now with all the instant communications. Talk to the people who need to hear that we’re both sick and tired of their anti-American and anti-Obama (our twice elected president) behavior. Don’t preach to the choir, preach to the sinners.

And now that I’ve gotten my blood pressure elevated, I think I will start taking my on advice.

Thanks for allowing me to rant.

Fantastic! Don’t let him back in.

"“Arab voters are coming out in droves to the polls. Left-wing organizations are busing them out.”

Interesting:

“Israeli officials told Haaretz that Boehner will lead a delegation of Republican congressmen on a trip to Israel on March 31”

I hadn’t quite formed the thought since it’s before coffee, but what you’ve said is what I was reaching for. How To Be An Effective Speaker While Schmoozing in Israel.

If I’m not mistaken government aircraft is provided for the Speaker, any Speaker, at all times, so the contingent would use that
