So what happens?
What is the punishment for contempt of Congress?
Do they whack his pee pee?
Arrest him?
Fine him?
Anyone know?

Curious to know what type of penalty “contempt of Congress” holds…? If it includes detention or jail time, they should certainly proceed. All these pseudo-claims of Exec-priveldge and the blatant dodges are getting tiresome.

So Bannon won’t pull an Ollie North. That’s OK, right?

Is a contempt of Congress charge similar to libel where truth is an absolute defense?

No.

Devin Nunes is not going to do anything to one of President Shithole’s favorite Nazis. He is not remotely interested in receiving any information unless it can be used to harm the FBI, the intel community, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or Democrats in general.

Direct challenge to the rule of law and that’s no accident. Again, it’s the authoritarian playbook.

In general there are three possibilities: (1) Congress can arrest and detain the contemnor for as long as he refuses to comply; but this has not happened since the 1930s. (2) Congress can ask the DOJ to prosecute the contemnor. (3) Congress can itself sue the contemnor in court, seeking a civil judgment requiring compliance with the subpoena.

As to actual penalties: Contempt of Congress is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $100K and imprisonment of up to 12 months.

I guess they insisted to his lawyers that he shower first.

Thanks cervates! They should absolutely proceed with this charge is Bannon doesn’t show. Unless, like the House we have rethuglican ‘leadership’ that will prohibit the move somehow…?

A warrant would be interesting, because you know he will be appearing on talk shows and so forth while he is a fugitive.

I have no problem with issuing a Contempt of Congress charge to Bannon for his refusal. However, and I’m looking for feedback here, is there a chance that it is better that he NOT testify? My question is that given the efforts of Nunes et al to screw up the inquiry, couldn’t any incriminating testimony given to the House be used as a later excuse to escape charges from the Mueller investigation ala Ollie North?

And, is being orchestrated directly from increasingly panicked and acting guilty as hell Donald J. Trump in the White House.
