So they caught the decoy?

And of course it’s a complete coincidence that the head of USSS has just been fired. Nothing to see here, move along.

“The hearing on Monday revealed that Zhang had a device that allowed her to detect concealed surveillance cameras in her south Florida hotel room, as well as nine thumb drives, CNN reported.”

Tell me more!

Someone once said (I’m forgetting who) that while Russia gets all the attention, look out for China.

And since Xi has given Trump and Ivanka trademarks in China, it’s probably mortifying to Trump that he couldn’t hold up his end of the bargain by sacrificing US national security.

China must have assumed sending one of their “covfefe boys” would have been enough to get the job done, considering Trump’s level of competence.

Prosecutors said Zhang entered the U.S. at Newark-Liberty International Airport on March 28, CNN reported. She attempted to enter Mar-a-Lago on March 30, the same night that an event promoted by south Florida massage mogul Cindy Yang had been scheduled to take place. The event had been cancelled before Zhang arrived.

This isn’t a coincidence. We need to know a lot more about Cindy Yang -who literally has been photographed with the President and may well have compromising photos of various influential and powerful Americans. If she’s also not a Chinese agent, I’d be shocked.

Lock her up! Lock her up!

As reported: At the hearing, prosecutors also reportedly alleged that Zhang “lies to everyone she encounters,”…

She was seeking her kindred spirit liars!

Take her to Guantanamo? It’s nearby. Get her to sing.

Feint to draw out the defense. Real spies hanging back and assessing SS/FBI response.

So if the cancelled event she claimed to be looking for had gone ahead as planned, how far do you think she would have gotten.?

tRUmp’s and the GOP’s silence on this occurrence is deafening, not a single “we must get to the bottom of this” type comment from any of them

boggles the mind

the faux outrage over the “private” server that Clinton had, versus not a single word over the same private server that her predecessor Powell had

can you imagine the non-stop hysteria that would have occurred if Obama even had an unsecured phone, or if a spy had visited a golf course the week before Obama, let alone the southern White’s Only House?

the hypocrisy is insane, and clearly the repubes do it to gain an edge and to “own the libs” so calling them out is pointless, so there is really no point in conversing with them any more, operating on two totally different playing fields so we gotta stop playing by their rules if we want to win

I’d give a lot to know why the head of the Secret Service was fired. Possibilities include that they were slow to catch this woman or that it becsme public that they had got this woman. If I were Trump, I wouldn’t be feeling particularly protected just now.

A secret service agent reportedly testified that after putting a thumb drive of Zhang’s into his computer, the device immediately began to download something onto his computer. The agent said that he shut down his computer to “stop the corruption.”

So, all you have to do to penetrate the S.S. secure network is to present yourself at Mar-A-Lago and hand over all your thumb-drives, and the S.S. agent will immediately plug them into his laptop? By the time he realized something was wrong it was already too late. What he saw happening was step 10 in a 10 step process.

I guess they don’t take the “Security” part of their job very seriously. Everybody knows you NEVER plug a thumb-drive you know nothing about into your computer!

i was wondering the same thing. Don’t they have cybersecurity seminars at the Secret Service where they tell you not to give anyone your password and never to use a thumbdrive from a source you do not know. I can’t tell you how many time we get those emails where i work.

Another possibility is Alles told Trump that Mar-a-Lago was a ‘no go’ until the Secret Service had new air-tight security arranged and the place would have to be locked down when he visited or Trump should find a new head of security. Trump, always a petulant baby, responded by firing Alles.

I really hope this laptop wasn’t on the Secret Service network! Dumbass.

So…how does one detect malware on a thumb drive?

If the laptop is properly configured (not networked, doesn’t auto-launch programs on thumb drives) then the way to scan a possibly dangerous thumb drive would require plugging it into a laptop (or some other computer).

Though it sounds like this agent bungled the malware detection process. (Or, more likely didn’t even consider the possibility that the drive had malware on it.) Unless you let the drive auto-launch its own programs, it’s just a collection of data.
