I wish he would. Yesterday.
There aināt enough honest lawyers in the world to sue all the GOP politicians who lie.
Like it or not, Trump has demonstrated that if you tell enough lies, and keep them coming fast and furious, you can still get elected. No one has the time or the energy to face down a torrent of bullshit. The moral of the story is simple: donāt tell one lie - tell dozens of them.
What is the reporter waiting for? You should have sued him in 2016
SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE SUE
āthat Jacobs attacked him first ā and that he was bound by the settlement agreement not to talk about the assault, the newspaper reported earlier this week.ā
On account of Gianforte seeing himself as a hero, this is why I want either āchoke slamā or ācriminal assaultā included in any future Gianforte-Jacobs stories.
This should be part of the candidateās bio in the Voters Guide.
Do it! You should have anyway, for tortious assault and battery.
Speaking of pics, because no one reporting this out thought it was important to put up a picture of the man who was body slammed, here it is.
I was struck by how professional Ben Jacobs was both during the incident and afterwards, even going so far as accepting Gianforteās politically expedient apology. I donāt think thatās something I couldāve done.
Gianforteās explanation was that he āsnappedā and reacted in a regrettable mannerā¦
When it comes to important critical issues relating to the well being of the nation and the citizensā¦ you really donāt want a hotheaded asshole who is prone to violent physical assault to be rendering judgment.
Brownshirt.
He was polite to a fault. Reminded me of the reporter who was threatened by the R thug from Staten Island with throwing him off a balcony, but he stayed calm.
Like Michael Grimm did to a reporter, and we all got to watch it in real time.
Well, we donāt. Republicans, on the other hand ā¦ they seem to prefer it.
Iām guessing this guy liked beer, still likes beer.
Ah, yes. The reporter was NY1 Reporter Michael Scotto. The Rethugliklan of āLet me be clear to you: If you ever do that to me again, Iāll throw you off this fucking balconyā fame was indeed Rep. Michael Grimm.
Hereās the first sentence of Grimmās Wiki entry: āMichael Gerard Grimm (born 7 February 1970) is an American criminal, businessman, and politician who represented New York in the United States Congress from 2011 to 2015.ā
The second paragraph is likewise a keeper: āOn April 28, 2014, Grimm was charged by federal authorities with 20 counts of fraud, federal tax evasion, and perjury. On December 23, 2014, he pleaded guilty to a single count of felony tax fraud. After initially vowing to retain his seat, Grimm announced on December 30, 2014, that he would resign from Congress effective January 5, 2015. There was a special election to replace him. He was sentenced to eight months in prison, a term he is currently serving.ā
Fitting. Evidently somebody was āfeeling the loveā when they wrote it.
ā¦ I wonder if Scotto has any plans to write a book about it, maybe call it Grimm Hairy Tales.
āPlease advise your client that he and his spokespersons need to stop ā immediately and forever ā telling lies about the assault, about their own prior lies, about your clientās āsettlement agreementā with Ben, or about any other aspect of this matter.ā
Thatās a glorious sentence.
Ā
Carroll College political science professor Jeremy Johnson said the president didnāt do Gianforte any favors by bringing it up last week. The reminder could influence independent and swing voters in the race.
True but, then again, the thought of doing anyone else favors never occurs to Trump.
Whereās Gianforteās chin? Did he lose it in a fight?
āFrankly, this is not behavior becoming of a U.S. representative.ā
I appreciate the sentiment, and technically, sheās right. But, for once, I can say this without irony: it damn well is if youāre a repbulican. Even the leader of their party, the president*, has stated that heās quite happy with body-slamming congressmen.
No, to many GOP voters, there is nothing unbecoming about violence from their elected reps, especially if its perpetrated against the right sort of people (or, if we allows that, e.g., taking health insurance away is a form of metaphorical violence, then GOP voters are just fine with their reps perpetrating violence on them as well).
