Discussion: Report: White House Appears To Be On Lockdown

While there were definitely far too many (near) hateful remarks, I’d also say there were many folks who genuinely tried to get their points of view across – and I’d say some of them laid out their views quite nicely. That’s not to say there was much convincing going on, because I think most people decided sometime back which camp to join. Additionally, there were a few brand new members who came in and knew it all and had their snarky-ass opinions about TPM commenters – and pretty much everyone shut them down, rightfully so. It’s one thing to join a community like ours and get to know the various folks here, but quite another to come in guns blazing, pretty much troll-like with their proclamations. I tend to agree with @littlegirlblue. That said, Democrats are well known for being as easy to herd as feral cats.

It’s anonymity and the invisibility that give some people cover for acting like asses.

Please. People disagreeing, or even being dicky while disagreeing is not “hate”.

What outsiders? Bernie has been a Senator for how many years? (Obama was a Senator and had been a Representative.) One could argue that some are a little more “in” than others, but neither of these is even close to “out”. Nor is Bernie is the first candidate ever to switch parties to run, and it’s a token switch at that, seeing as how he’s been voting with the Dems forever and was never a Rep. And Hillary is about as “inside” as one can get. Note that warm approval from the national Democratic Party doesn’t distinguish “inside” from “outside”. Now, on the Republican side, Trump qualifies as an outsider on many measures, in sharp contrast to the Dem campaign.

Now my big hope is that Bernie, once he’s absorbed the surely painful body blow of losing this candidacy that he’d never dreamed he’d ever get this far, will calm down, return to his normal irascible gentleman gadfly persona, and do the right things, supporting Hillary and the Dem Party candidates down ballot and in the states.

With a little “help” from the Very Serious People:

Protesters beaten to death at Trump rally.
Cruz proposes Department of G-d.
Kasich calls for corporations to hold public office.

Time permitting, we’ll bring you those stories.

But first, we bring you several reports on the latest tiff between Clinton and Sanders supporters….

I know our community can be very opinionated. I enjoy the give and take. The problem is Hillary supporters don’t seem to recognize that Bernie supporters are not supporting Bernie as much as they are demanding the party move left and at least try to deliver for them.

When Bernie says Hillary has to convince his supporters to vote for him, he just might be recognizing that he doesn’t have much control over them. They really won’t vote for her because he tells them to. She is going to have to make the sale. I think she understands that but her supporters clearly don’t.

If this is what he means, and it might be, it could also be noted that Bernie has (ahem) minimal grasp of subtlety. Or tact. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved the guy for many years, but there it is. LOL And I suspect that Hillary does get that, the whole “go left” message and Bernie’s diplomatic awkwardness. She’s dealt with a whole lot worse, and can easily cope with disappointment meltdowns, knowing that he’s no threat at all to her, or to our nation.

I LOL’ed when I heard the details. I can imagine a guy running from a robbery, jumping over this fence, and all of a sudden there are eight Secret Service guns in his face.
