Discussion: Report: WH Limits Scope Of FBI's Kavanaugh Probe, Including List Of Allowed Interviews

And don’t talk to Col. Mustard.

The ONLY reason that the WH feels a need to manage the investigation so closely is that the KNOW that there is shit that will come out. And their only hope of heading that off is to ensure that it doesn’t get looked at.

And don’t mention the war.

PB, I’m with you in the unafraid-to-be-a-pedant corner. I guess not enough people use horse-powered transportation, or horses generally, anymore. It’s such a common mistake.

Shouldn’t the dems be hiring a private eye – at least to get the goods on what an alcoholic bart still is along with the employment records of judge’s stint the summer of 1982…

Justice John Roberts must be having a fit. He’s made numerous statements of concern about the politicization (and thus delegitamization of the SCOTUS). All his assurances are for naught. Bet he wants to strangle Trump. Trump has blown his cover.

Fig Leaves are used because they are so big. Since the term is being used quite a lot,
I thought y’all might like a visual.

I don’t see it that way. While Flake is a Flake I don’t think he’s very arrogant. And, since we’ve never been in this exact place before, how would he know how things would play out, who would set the limitations on the investigation. I think he was conflicted about it all and took a path that might defuse the situation.
All I can say is that what he did, for good or evil buys us some time. You don’t know how things might go, something else might turn up, the FBI might go rouge, who knows.

Not to mention numerous, delicious juicy figs.

Mueller’s team can just add this to the bill. Moreover, it’s time for the FBI to make Trump’s deep state fever dreams come true. They swore an oath to defend our country from all enemies foreign and domestic, and the later is certainly Trump. Now is the time to uphold the oath, with payback to Trump for perpetually bad mouthing the FBI and DOJ. They should investigate what they see fit, and hold a full court presser this Friday. The media needs to pick up the slack too, for one by helping Avenatti make as much noise as possible with Swetnick’s case.

I’m afraid that this is a pivotal battle to save our country. I’m not holding my breath, but now is the time for Flake, Collins and Murkowski to call Trump on the bad faith. If they don’t, they are partaking in the real ‘biggest sham in the history of politics’. (No apologies to that weasel Lindsey.)

Empty Wheel is usually right, in this case she appears to be furious. “We’ll see what happens.”

White House Counsel Don McGahn (pictured above), the Trump administration’s point person for Kavanaugh’s nomination, has also given the FBI a list of permitted witnesses to interview, NBC News reported.

So why bother? Apparently then the fix is in. McGahn won’t allow any investigation that establishes facts, and which may lead to catching Kavanaugh in a full blown lie. Not being able to investigate his drunken behavior? What’s that about? That’s at the heart of his pervy behavior during those years.

Kavanaugh lied under oath. This investigation is supposed to be a followup to what he said but it is already being turned into a sham by this White House and McGahn before its even allowed to get underway.

If you ask me, this is just more obfuscation. A veneer. A pretense. A coverup. Just More Disingenuous Bullshit.

To not be allowed to check when Mark Judge worked at the Safeway or wherever the fuck he worked (the one thing that Dr. Ford was certain would help her establish a personal timeline for her assault, and jog her memory), is a sure sign they’re already intent on trying to hamstring the investigation on purpose.

This White House and the GOP don’t want the truth. This is just one more exercise of going thru the motions because Jane Q. Public has been horrified and furious over what she’s seen this week. The only thing these pukes want out of this is to lower the temperature somehow so they can vote for this arrogant ill-tempered prick without feeling near as guilty as they would have had it happened right after the hearing. This won’t do, especially if its just another half measure, and they should know this is unacceptable.

This entire charade is being done to give Flake cover and probably Collins and a few others. Makes me sick.

As many have mentioned the WH is obstructing yet another investigation. Donald McGahn is personally and professionally conflicted and should have no role in telling the FBI what to do. Director Wray should come out publicly and state that the FBI will take care of it’s own business, thank you very much.

This will give leverage to Schumer to get Manchin in line to vote ‘no’. Heitkamp’s comments this morning tell me that she’s a ‘no’ as well. In Manchin’s case, Patrick Morrisey trolled him pretty well by stating that he’s just waiting around to see which way the wind blows before he decides. I thank Morrisey for saying that because it tells Manchin that there is no value in supporting Kavanaugh because Morrisey has already staked out that ground. There is way more upside in opposing Kavanaugh on the ACA, temperament/contrast with Gorsuch etc.

That will leave Collins and Murkowski on an island. In Maine, it’s pretty obvious that this is not a vote where Collins can fake it as a moderate and still vote ‘yes’ on this nomination. Murkowski also has real issues in her state from various constituencies, but I also think that she has some personal history with those prep schools (her brother went to g-town prep) and believes that Kavanaugh is guilty. Collins I find a more reprehensible figure. But in the case of both Senators, there is no path to winning without winning female voters. Dr. Ford is too powerful a political force to ignore.

This ought to be interesting …

Saturday Night Live’s season premiere is tonight. Do you suppose they’ll be able to find any material?

They have been trying this shit continuously. They haven’t quite got away with it yet. There always seems to be a hitch. It is staggering that it still staggers on. We will see.

Hmmmm… That hadn’t occurred to me… I hope they go with the whole drinking bit, maybe make that the national conversation.

Kinda along the lines of Clinton’s smoked-but-didn’t-inhale, the “I was a high-school jock who partied multiple times a a week for years, but never to excess, and certainly didn’t do anything ever that I would be embarrassed to tell my mother about” really is a thing for the ages.

Who do think will play Kavanaugh on SNL?

Naw. Now that the pretense of being impartial judges is out of the way, once he gets his solid fifth vote, he can stop pretending.

They all have lifetime jobs, with a pension at the end whenever they do decide to retire. Now they won’t even have to show up to do anything, probably can just leave the oral arguments to aids while they go golfing.

And all decisions from the Supreme Court will be 5-4 and carry the same boilerplate justification, “Neener-neener-neener, because we can. Fuck you.”
