And there it is.
Busteddddddddddd…
And by “virtually everybody”, he means practically nobody.
But we all know who Trump is. He’s beyond shame. It’s Kelly who’s the big loser, the one who’s sacrificed his honor and integrity by lying and slandering to bail Trump out.
I certainly respect Kelly’s service to our country and the ultimate sacrifice made by his son. As a Gold Star parent, he must be appalled at Trump’s cavalier lie on an almost sacred topic in American culture. If it’s still possible for him to maintain any semblance of dignity, he must resign.
Or it means nothing to be a Gold Star family. We’ve hit rock bottom yet again under this monster’s Administration.
Not just the IC, now the Pentagon is enraged at Trump’s disgraceful, dishonorable use of military death to aggrandize himself. This kind of leak is how you fight back. It’s actually a classical military principle in which you concentrate your force on the decisive point. : )
Aaaaand Trump is shown to be a despicable lying piece of shit yet again.
And the check is in the mail.
But here’s the thing: Most of us reading this here at TPM are, of course, disgusted and appalled.
But the Trump base? The two-out-of-five Americans who think he’s great in the White House? Nah, not at all.
And the rest of the country? How many even hear about something like this? Of those who do, how many actually care?
(In other words, can this country be saved?)
Since the WH isn’t getting regular information about deaths in the field, is it possible that Trump didn’t even know about the losses in Niger - since he only gets his news from Fox and Friends, and since he eschews briefings, and has been so busy engaging in twitter feuds with the NFL Players and the Mayor of San Juan?
That said - this is a predictable, but disgusting story from every WH angle.
Like the story of the Southern Baptist who was caught, by his pastor, walking out of a brothel.
“I was ashamed to walk in there, Reverend, but not enough to leave.”
Has there been any reporting on this? I’m certain your correct, but has anyone come forward to confirm that?
The shitshow enters day 6.
Off the top of my head, I can’t remember one of these ever going a whole week before. Sometimes, we circle back to stuff like the Pussy Tape, but a week of uninterrupted focus on one cascade of fuckups seems newish. Maybe I’m just punch-drunk.

[/quote]That could be why he didn’t answer the question as to why he hadn’t mentioned those deaths and instead just claimed Obama, Bush and others had not called families of those killed in action. Beyond not knowing because he was busy fixing the NFL between rounds of golf, could it be that since this was apparently a mission the military doesn’t much want to talk about, Trump hadn’t even been told about it? They know he can’t keep his fucking mouth shut or his fingers from tweeting.
IMHO the simple fact of this appearing in the media is confirmation that it was deliberately leaked. It’s a very specific refutation of a Trump claim.
WH staff scrambling to save Trump’s ass. What a colossal waste of time and tax payer money. Trump says or tweets something and it sends the minions into a frenzied panic. I bet this happens on a near daily basis.
Incompetent!
I’ve had jobs I didn’t much like but whoa.
It’s his go to move, why should he change it up now when it has worked so well for him in the past?
Obviously Trump’s people judge him by a different standard than us. But he famously leaves everyone licking their wounds eventually. From high-end bankers to nobodies who thought Trump University could help, from casino subcontractors to Cabinet members, he’ll double-cross you eventually. I don’t know if the country’s savable. But I know he screws people. It’s what he does and it’s the only thing he does.
