The President has been very clear that all available funds will be allocated toward the construction of a border wall. Sorry.

This makes me ill. All those people and their families.

Who in Rump’s regime will be dealing with this? The EPA, Dept. of Energy, FEMA, no one? You say, Hanford is basically on their own?

subsidence in the soil covering railroad tunnels

So, what’s the shielding available in the tunnel when functioning perfectly?
Are we talking unshielded super deadly plutonium?

refrain from eating or drinking

This just screams idiotic NRC policy…

Fake news wants people to think plutonium is dangerous. Heck, I don’t see anything.

I urge every conservative to rush right over there and prove the liberal media and leftist scientists wrong.

Trump sugar daddy Robert Mercer believes radiation exposure makes us healthier, so no worries.

Only the DOE has authority here. The EPA is explicitly excluded from anything having to do with nuclear.

It’s either NRC or DOE

DOE, i.e. Rick Perry. Feel safer now?

Although this post was deleted, the comment referred to the Hanford downwinders, a cluster of people who died from the effects of radiation.

The Spokane Spokesman Review’s Karen Dorn Steele did excellent reporting on this at the time.

This seems like a good spot for the wall.

Hanford Source: Crews were doing road work near plutonium finishing plant. May have caused enough vibration to collapse tunnel.

I hope this statement is based on incomplete or erroneous information, because I’d really like to know that we aren’t using such flimsy tunnels to transport plutonium.

Hanford. For 50 years at that site, the government has been sweeping radioactive dust bunnies under the rug.

If nuclear ever had an honest future going forward, it was destroyed decades ago. And long before Fukushima and Chernobyl.

Plutonium outside you is bad, inside you it is deadly pretty fast.

@ottnott Tell me what that thing is.

Piglet, supposedly.
