Well ya, The Rump is a rich target, but I just got back from the family toad trip from Hell to Mt Rushmore. Good luck finding a worker who doesn’t speak with an eastern European accent at Wall Drug or any other cheesy T- shirt and kitchy “Americana” junk vendor. A place proudly proclaims they see tens of thousands of customers daily and they still won’t pay enough to attract enough American workers

You missed my point. If business could not hire illegals, the jobs would change. Why pay a living wage when you can find somebody who will work for less, and dare not claim any rights lest they be deported.
As to agricultural jobs, if there was no cheap labor we would be working hard to automate – creating good jobs in development, manufacturing, and maintenance.
I’m tired of pretending it’s a good thing that people ignore our immigration laws and enter the country and that it’s a good thing that others circumvent the law to hire them.
If Central America wants to be a good Catholic region and produce more children than their resources can support, let them solve their own population problem, don’t just publish pamphlets on how to sneak into the U.S.

Hmmm____It will be interesting to see how the Republicans’ odious “base” handles the news that their anti-immigrant champion is totally pro-immigrant when it comes to exploiting immigrant labor for personal gain. FilpFlop Mittens’ “Self-Deportation” Romney took damage over similar charges in 2011, when reports re-emerged that he had hired undocumented immigrants to work on his lawn. Of course, he went on to win the nomination, so history suggests that stupid and low/no info Republican voter can handle at least some level of immigration hypocrisy from their leaders.
But Trump is taking that hypocrisy to immeasurably absurd levels. So absurd, in fact, that — according to him — he’s going to win the latino vote! ~derp…derp…derp!~

I’m sure every time somebody is found to be working illegally on a Trump property they are appropriately shocked, shocked I tell you, that anything illegal is going on there; and if the authorities press the issue, I’m sure there is somebody on the payroll whose job is to be fired for the offense because the corporation must exploit, and must be protected when caught doing so.
Who’s going to tell them, so that they will believe it? Faux? Limpjaw?

The Trump entity that has imported the most foreign workers is the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, which has sought 787 workers since 2006 to serve as cooks and cleaners, according to Reuters. Reuters reported that Trump Model Management and Trump Management Group LLC have also sought to bring in nearly 250 foreign fashion models.
Trump just couldn’t find any Americans willing to agree to what amounts as being an indentured servant. Raise the pay and overall benefits to a decent livable income and create a hospitable working environment and no one would need to rely on foreign workers – Trump included. My statement is not at all an opinion on the many foreign folks who do take advantage of the situation so they can at least get their foot in the door, have a chance of a better life for them and their families, etc. I’ve known many over the years and they have been some of the hardest-working people I’ve met. Still, the Trumps, Adelsons, Kochs, and a whole host of large corporations do this – and it shafts the Americans already here and creates a false employment picture in so many ways. Until the average Joe and Jill wake up and demand better, the Trumps of the world will keep shafting us.

And TPM? Trump supports legal immigration…is that what you are saying? I don’t see the angle here. If Trump was caught with undocumented workers…and knew of it…you’d have a point. But he sought visas for these workers.
It’s become a chicken or egg question of which came first, the back breaking low paying manual labor jobs or the number of mostly Latino immigrants who come north for work they cannot find at home and the fear for their lives from threats of violence from narco gangs and more. Here in San Francisco there is a non-profit day labor group program where one can hire men or women for a set number of hours at a guaranteed wage, I have used them for home projects, and my experience is that Latinos have been sent (who have earned every dollar I’ve paid) and no whites.

Let’s judge his campaign promise based on a totally unfair analysis of his actions as a job creator in comparison to his rosy promises. Is it a picture of democratic representation through collective bargaining with employees earning a fair share of the profits? Do his fortunate employees make enough to buy a home and educate their children so as to provide a future generation of educated productive workers? Or is it the Leona Helmsley management style again?

I’ve looked around but cannot find out anything about this pic but I think it might’ve been a stadium event. In any case, when TPM finally generates a Trump hair thread, we’ll be ready.
And they do awesome work, at least that’s been my experience with landscaping projects I’ve been involved with that include latino workers on the team.
So many guys have worked so hard around my house, yard clean up, painting, hauling huge rocks to the street from below the house, and they speak English better than I do Spanish. Building contractors I’ve used have also hired them for unskilled work, and they come through all the time.
