Shouldn’t Don be responsible to the citizens of the US !!! We the people have the right to know what Don is up to. What is he up to now? And, who in signing nondisclosures ? This needs to be fixed immediately. Don is NOT a dictator no matter how hard he tries and this is serious if he thinks he can be out second Tricky Dicky…
I assume the main reason behind the NDAs is because he likes to make his underlings into a cult, and the best way to do that is to create a secrecy club.
Because if it’s for something he’s doing policy or business-wise, he doesn’t need the NDAs. He could literally hold a press conference today announcing that he’s absolutely going to run his businesses right out of the Oval Office, and CNN would have a discussion panel about the ‘two sides’ of the story. He could walk out on the street in New York and shoot anyone himself and CNN would have a panel discussion about how Americans are divided on whether the President should kill a guy or not.
The stupidity I see around me every day in the real world is becoming more and more concrete. It is becoming this anti-American, anti-intellectual, anti-human blob that will eventually consume the country. The people I talk to and meet in real life don’t have any idea how government works or even what it does. They just know that, for instance, right now, they’re “not allowed” to say under god in the pledge of allegiance and that Trump is going to fix it. (I heard that myself, in person, not on the internet, yesterday.)
They never had any idea what HUD even did, but they know that Ben Carson being in charge of it will somehow ‘fix’ it. What about it needed fixing? And how will he do it? They don’t know, and don’t care that they don’t know.
Someone in my own family tried to convince me that what Trump did with Taiwan really isn’t that bad and that China won’t do anything harmful or irrational because they need us. My response was, “So you’re going to justify every stupid thing he does for the next four years by assuming that everyone other than him in the rest of the world will behave reasonably and rationally? Well, I hope you’re right.”
I get more and more depressed as we head towards January. Not about what Trumpy is doing, but about how millions of Americans, along with a castrated press, are going to spend the next four or more years allowing him to get away with it.
Time to sue.
Yeah, but but but e mail.
Obama is destroying our country, they said.
We have to take our country back, they said.
Nice, but it holds no legal value once one is subpoenaed.
He’s just wasting the Koch’s money since he hasn’t a snowball’s chance of getting 2/3 of the states to agree.
Good, then we never need to see these jackassses on the Sunday talk shows.
And Trump doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance of winning the presidency.
Careful what you call impossible, these days…
Why should we have to wait for a subpoena? I am sure they will come, when even the GOP controlled DOJ will have to subpoena Trump transition documents, but in the meantime why cant the Press and Media and the public have access to the documents of the Transition? When, God forbid, in the future there is the (gag) Donald Trump Presidential Library, is it going to be an air conditioned marble and gold monstrosity housing all NDA protected content?
I suggest that a FOIA demand be filed immediately.
Government doesn’t happen in a silo, Big Orange. Sorry to disappoint you on that.
As long as the surrogates say exactly what they’re told to say with no criticism, no disparagement, and zero facts… It’s all good. At least from Donnie’s perspective.
All those “clouds of suspicion” that are hovering over the Clinton campaign. Has anyone else noticed that the chief NYT reporter on the Clinton bus, Amy Chosick, has not done a column since the election? Did she have a nervous breakdown when she realized that all that negative press had created such an indelible suspicion in voters minds that millions of people really fell for the corrupt/crooked meme and never even voted or voted third party?
And since Trump’s only real talent is making enemies, we can look forward to reading the tell-all books written by some of these folks in the future…
I took the liberty of copying and pasting your comment and sending it on to my mate. You express my angst and frustration with my fellow Americans on the left and right so much better than I can.
ACLU, this is why I send you money every month - start filing FOIA requests for Everything!
I spoke of this early and mentioned it just the other day here. If he is paying the transition team, I have no problem with him getting his power freak on. But we pay the staff in the West Wing, and they’d better not require them to sign NDAs. (That would only confirm that his intent is nefarious and his goal profit.)
(As if I needed confirmation)
It almost doesn’t matter whether it’s enforceable; half the point of these NDAs is to scare people out of ever trying to see if it is. You’d have to pay lawyers to fight Trump – and who knows, maybe the federal government, too – for how long? Forever, maybe. It’s just the usual Trump intimidation.
Agreed. It’d be nice to know, up front, if this sort of thing would be upheld in a court of law–and under what circumstances–so as to fight this sort of shit. Those people were stupid for signing it – if you’re working for the government (we, the people) then the only NDA you sign is one for the government only.
