At least it appears Wray has the stones to protect his agents from the evil elf and his idiot traitor boss. Maybe the FBI can survive with its independence intact after all.

@mattinpa Ya think? If McCabe actually retires this year, it would put him in a nice position to tell what he knows without fear of retaliation. And I suspect Trump’s smear attempts have not sat well with him.

There’s also been a flood of foreign bots that switched from #SchumerShutdown to #SchumerSellout to sow discord among left-leaning voters.

For my part, I’ll just say that Sessions wouldn’t be this enthusiastic if he weren’t so afraid of all that perjury he committed a year ago. Roy Moore would make a better AG.

The way the MSM keeps noting that the Russian bots and trolls never stopped supporting Trump without drawing any inferences or conclusions about whether that is, in any way, relevant to the question of whether Trump has been colluding with, or has been coopted by, the Russians is driving me fucking crazy. It’s the same goddamn “hey, everybody knows that so it’s not news” blindspot we saw when they failed to find anything particularly newsworthy about the Downing Street Memo until the dirty fucking hippy blogs and websites (like TPM, as I recall) shamed them into stepping outside the Beltway cocktail weenie sucking CW and actually look at it.

Thanks for mentioning this. I would not have thought of it.

It’s possible but I’m thinking more generally that when you go to war with the IC they’re going to come back at you and they’re not without weapons.

Are you suggesting the IC ‘go to war’ against a sitting president?

Are you suggesting that they protect “this sitting president”?

Is it wrong that my response to this article was “well, of course he has”?

Like the proverbial frog in the water that slowly comes to a boil unaware of its peril, fascism begins a slow creep upon government.

I’m not suggesting the IC go to war against a hypothetical president because they just don’t like him. I’m suggesting that in this actual particular situation they’re human beings and will protect themselves with the weapons they have, which are considerable compared to, say, the Department of Agriculture. And they might retaliate not just out of pique over a turf battle—this particular president is widely suspected to be a huge security threat to this nation and a threat as well to its political system, a thing all of these people have sworn to defend. So if they want to stick a leg out to trip him up, yeah, I’m good with it.

Protecting the president is not the IC’s job.

Is it the IC’s job to take action against a suspect? Are they empowered by the Constitution or by law?

Well, yeah. It’s kind of what the FBI does all day, really. :flushed:
