Discussion: Report: Trump Remark About Breaking Pledge May Cost Him SC Delegates

Every poll shows Trump will get absolutely creamed in the general and will hurt Republicans down ballot. I actually don’t like seeing stories that say he might not win the GOP nomination.

The GOP is bound and determined to blow up their party. There are only 2 ways this plays out - Trump gets the nomination and they get clobbered, or they take it from him, he runs as a 3rd party candidate and they get clobbered.

They’re reaping what they’ve sown.

Just when you think you have ordered enough popcorn for the rest of the campaign season…

Popcorn, be damned! This is good enough to break out the cashews, or maybe even the macadamia nuts.

Gee, seems like being a total bullying jerk has downsides! Who knew? I think Donnie should look up the address of a church in the Manhattan phone book, head on over there Sunday, drink his little wine and eat his little cracker and ask God for help in SUCKING AT LIFE LESS, don’t you? Because I think this is the high-water mark right now; he’s gone about as far as inherited wealth, mental illness, total assholery and not-that-brightness can take a person and things are starting to head south. Just a loser and a hater but that’s what I think.

ā€œHe has thus renewed threats not to honor the RNC loyalty pledge.ā€

Trump’s divorced two wives, declared four bankruptcies, and stiffed countless marks.

Has he ever made a pledge he didn’t break?

It’s what he does best!

What on earth did the GOP expect?

ā€œNo honor among thievesā€: (n) the idea that criminals always betray one another (see also OmertĆ ).

I think they had no great illusions ever about how things would go. This Trump thing was like a disease that’s terminal by the time any symptoms appear.

Fourth stage Trumpoma. But the G.O.P. will resist all attempts at a mercy killing. They’re going to go down hard.

Don’t worry. If Donnie doesn’t get want he wants he’ll throw an epic hissy fit and scare everyone shitless. Then he will sue the concerned parties.
My fantasy is he doesn’t get even one electoral college vote and his many businesses go into receivership. And then he’s gotta go find a real job.

I’m not convinced that the GOP won’t sweep this election. Don’t ask me how. But there’s a lot of time between now and then.

I’m pretty superstitious, and leery of glee about outcomes until they’ve come out. Chickens till they’re hatched, all that. I remember thinking nobody could possibly vote for Reagan. Or Dubya. It’s taken me a long time to realize people who think unlike me aren’t trying to think like me and failing. They really do think differently from me. They’re wrong, of course. But they won’t necessarily see things like I do eventually or before Election Day or ever. So I’m not happy Trump is running, or sad when things don’t go his way and it looks like he might not get the nom. I don’t say that every time someone says the opposite, but I think it. The mere theoretical possibility, the sheer prospect, however unlikely, is very concerning. So come on over to my house and we can worry together. Bring liquor.

The bullying jerk is on the cover of People magazine out today, and in a bookstore I was in today it was propped up next to a special edition of Time which is devoted to Remembering the Reagans. It’s similar to what the head of CBS said about the drumpf campaign because he sells their product.

"It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS,ā€ and called Donald Trumpā€˜s presence in the race a ā€œgood thing.ā€

The Rs cannot sweep this election simply because the demographic groups they need to win are running away from the party accelerated by trump’s presence: whites, Latinos, Muslims, women including R women who cannot abide T’s misogyny and will have to hold their noses and vote HRC

I knew it! Most state organizations (and maybe the RNC here too) do have rules on these things. Wouldn’t it be rich if he does lose not only SC’s delegates but some other state’s delegates? All because he has zero professional team members on his staff to advise him of such traps…not that he’d listen anyway!

Oh, this is going to get good really fast. Can you say L-A-W-S-U-IT? :joy:

If Donald Trump runs in the general election, it will be bad for America. It will complicate our relationships with our allies and enemies. It will demonstrate to the racists that their views are acceptable to the general public. It will degrade the quality of debate. The damage he has already done is astounding.

Is it wrong that I’m smiling?

It would not surprise me if the SC delegates end up unbound. And if unbound, chances are that a great many will end up voting against Trump in the first round.

However, I still think that Trump will win the first vote. All he has to do is bribe enough unbound delegates to swing his way.

Nah, you missed the memo. It’s Obama’s fault.
