A law he has broken many times.
I believe the report that someone heard this, and that they discussed it…
But at least in this, those guys are grownups. They’re whimpering about the fairly minimal subterfuge required to circumvent the law–hell, with the Trump admin in office enforcement is likely minimal, and quashing of same maximal.
Probably kind of a pain when some pipsqueak bribe-ee tries to shake Rex’s successor down for more or he’ll “tell” , but boo-hoo.

Well of course he did.

Tillerson disagreed, however, per the New Yorker. A source with knowledge of the conversation told the New Yorker that Tillerson told the President “that America didn’t need to pay bribes—that we could bring the world up to our own standards.”
Ah…but that’s the rub isn’t it? Trump is bringing the US (all of us) down to his pathetic standards. And most of us deeply resent it.
This was about the Brazilian probe. Brazil was still investigating Trump at this time for bribing Brazilian officials to get favorable treatment for his ventures in their country. Had that gone forward, he’d also have been at risk for violations of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. However, Brazil pretty much dropped their investigation once Trump became POTUS.
By the way, after reading that entire article, it’s clear Tillerson is entirely unsuited for SoS.
He was an authoritarian leader at Exxon, rarely meeting with anyone other than his closest advisors. An approach antithetical to success as SoS.
He really does need to go, and Trump will probably cash him in on day 364…just before Rex can cash in on tax breaks he’d get if he reaches one year.
It’s called the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Trump and his associates’ actions should be examined closely with respect to potential violations of this act. What did they give of value to foreign government officials over the years to influence government decisions? For example, did Trump grease the wheels to get the Miss Universe Moscow pageant? Did he offer to grease the wheels to get the TT Moscow project approved?

Iranian Revolutionary Guard are our allies now. I’m sure I read that on Twitter.
Tillerson is doing a fantastic job of staying on just to aggravate his boss. I wonder if he’ll say that a termination is not official unless Trump himself delivers it?
That could certainly be floating around on RuTwitter. It’s so hard to keep up.
As I read this latest D’oh! Exchange with Trump and Tillerson I thought of a line from the Musical Evita: “He’s exceptionally dim.” Somehow seems even more demeaning than fucking moron. I am sure Tillerson was thinking, sir, you don’t admit to things like that out loud.
Tillerson strikes me as one of those people who are like bulls. They can be very placid and seemingly unconcerned about a lot but you better not take one on head to head.
What’s remarkable is we all expected him to be one of the (if not the) most corrupt member of the cabinet, but here we have him gobsmacked by his boss’s wish to flout fundamental laws of international business from the get-go.
