They, the establishment, keeps repeating over and over how the US is the most charitable nation and people in the world.
Unfortunately, the American public is being brain washed. The US is NOT the most charitable and giving nation or people - the facts do not support such claims.
Family Charitable trusts like Trump’s, like the Koch’s, like the Gate’s Foundation, like the Blank family charitable trust, are NOT setup for the purposes of helping the needy and those at the bottom. The 1st reason they are setup is to AVOID PAYING taxes AND to secure their wealth and income for their family members. Look at the Clinton foundation…not exactly giving to Haiti like you thought - meanwhile the whole family is on the payroll and pulling down very large salaries.
Look at the BLank Family Charitable Trust…their ranch and golf course in paradise Valley in Livingston, Montana. Now that’s charity.
Look a the Koch’s…they are very good at giving to the rich and themselves…like the Lincoln Center and the New York Opera are what we should be defining as “charity”.
Look athe Gates Foundaing…2 huge trophy homes in the Yellowstone Club in Montana…ski mansions for the entire Gates family and their very-very rich friends including Buffet. Since when are trophy vacation homes in gated communities charity? Since the rich have manipulated and rigged the US tax code to work for them.
The US rich are very good at giving unto themselves…and avoiding paying their fair share in taxes of course.
We weren’t socialists in the 60’s and 70’s…when we taxed marginal income above $ 1 M at 90%. If we want to pay down the debt and pay for the wars, we must return to the tax profile of the 1960’s and 1970’s…before Reagan and the Republicans turned our economy upside down for the rich and the monopolies.
If we don’t end the scam of the rich…this country and the bottom 90% will hit the tipping point and then all bets are off. The robber barons will be the 1st to get it and they will only have themselves to blame.

I suspect that on a percentage basis I’ve given more to charity and other causes than Drumpf. But then again maybe he wants to do his giving w/o any fan fare or publicity… nah. He’s got an ego bigger’n Dallas so he’d shout his “generosity” from the roof tops.

To be fair, it could be auctioned off by a non-profit and go to some good. Non-profits make use of these kinds of donations to raise money all the time. Of course, while it is of some value to the non-profit, it doesn’t cost him much of anything and provides him with free advertising and presumably a tax-break.
