Discussion: Report: Trump Admin Officials Invented Cover Story For Trump’s North Korea Tweet

When a Republican reports that the sun rose this morning, I go outside to check.

Burn the sources. This admin has been relying on anonymity to spread countless lies through the press. When a source lies, it’s fair to burn them.

Actually do it for once.

Wait the White House lied??? I’m shocked…

Mueller might have given Trump a “totally exonerating” non-exoneration, but the rest of the world will continue to laugh at the Dotard.

It’s not the crime, it’s the coverup. Make that, the leaking of the coverup.

I support this, if it can be proven that the sources knew they were lying. Perhaps they themselves believed false information that others knew to be incorrect, but they did not. Plausible deniability for this seems unlikely, though.

“Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people”

“can only associate with equally special people”

“equally special people”

This making it clearer for anyone as to why Trump chooses the autocratic dictators to glom onto? He perceives status as a dictatorial god-king as the pinnacle, the apex of power, authority and achievement and believes it is what he is entitled to, born to. Obtaining and holding such power proves virtue, worth, competence, mastery, knowledge, genius, cunning, etc. People like May or Merkel or Trudeau allow themselves to be subject to rules, laws, constraints on their whims, boundaries, limits, people interjecting, etc., and are thus weak and beneath the true and deserving power of Trump. He cannot associate with them…that’s like slumming and hurts his brand. In fact, he fervently believes that by instead associating with, ingratiating himself with, befriending, wheeling and dealing with those who have achieved autocratic, dictatorial greatness he stands out as singular even among these supposed peers.

Anyhoo, this is where that tweet came from…his first instinct was to attempt ingratiation with Kim as a means of getting a nuclear deal because they’re “buds”, peers, one god-king doing a solid for another in order to get a return favor down the line. He has no fucking idea what he’s doing and is simply acting out his mentally ill compulsions.

Absolutely. Light these want-to-have-it-both-ways fuckers on fire.

In modern journalism, being “objective” means repeating what everyone says and letting their audience decide what to believe. Lies are just a form of spin and when they find out their sources lied to them, they just pass that information along instead of learning from it. This is why we can’t have nice things.

The only wall this administration has achieved is a wall of lies.

Too true, but really I am shocked on those extremely rare occasions when the White House tells the truth!

Chaotic, amateurish, unprofessional, reckless. I could go on…

As I’ve said before, in Watergate we had The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight. With Trump, we have The Gang That Can’t Get The Gun Out Of Its Holster Without Shooting Itself In The Foot.

The ambiguous “future sanction” story seemed quite clearly to be a lie to me at the time.

Don’t rush to burn the sources today.

Those are likely the same sources we’ll rely on shortly to get the Mueller Report…

“Everyone in the Trump White House is a no good, lying bastard. They can lie out both sides of their mouths at the same time, and if they ever caught themselves telling the truth, they’d lie just to keep their hand in.”

(h/t Harry Truman)

“The good news is that our leader is so crazy and stupid that he tweeted a thing that wasn’t true so we had to lie about it until it became true, then we reversed that decision! Why don’t people trust us more?”
