I’m no fan of Tillerson, but it would take every ounce of self control I have not to tell Stephen Miller to go do something anatomically impossible to himself.
Besides, Rex takes orders from Putin, and Putin only. That was the deal.
I have no love for Tillerson, but he has had a ton of real-world experience as CEO of a major corporation, so to be told anything by a mealy, sycophantic twirp like Miller is insulting. You can quit, Rex, we’ll all understand. You’ll be better off for it.
When somebody like Tillerson is the good guy, you know you’re way through the looking glass. I wonder at what point he resigns – on the one hand there’s still lots of graft to be made, and the smug feeling of being the only adult, but on the other there’s the continual humiliation and likely a growing sense of futility, because one random tweet can wreck months of planning.
I have no love for Tillerson, period. He should be confronting Trump, not his minions. Tillerson is unqualified and incompetent, so he’s a perfect fit for the Trump administration.
This is one of those opaque, inside-baseball stories—unlikeable actors doing awful things to each other behind the scenes of depravity and incompetence. So let’s not vote for either side. It’s the Putin Wing vs the Mercer-Bannon Wing…or more correctly, Alien vs Predator.
The Trump Administration = The Donner Party
Can they just go ahead and start dinner, then?
I could almost hear Tilly calling these Trumpophants, “you mealy-mouthed empty-suited punks…”
I get the sense that as a former CEO, Tillerson has a certain expectation that people in an organization will work for its benefit, success, and continuing existence. In the present situation, his organization is the State Department and on a larger scale, the U.S.A. He can’t be happy seeing the Trumpsters trying to tear it down or just not caring if the country succeeds or fails. So, he does what he can. But there’s got to be a point when he says …
Oh, they’ve started, but regret to say that are not yet done.
Not hard to imagine that Steady-Hand-on-the-Tiller has learned from knowledgeable staff at State that accepting immigrants from some countries has benefits for the US, whereas Miller is probably a Kaus-style absolutist against any and all immigration
Maybe, but Tillerson signed on for the big payday when Russian Sanctions end, and he may be just greedy enough to wait and make that happen.
I’ve read that Miller is far from the only Trump flunky well beneath Tillerson’s stature who tries to give marching orders to him, and that Tillerson is pretty fucking tired of that shit. Jared Kushner is likely one of these twerps.
he’ll hang on for a while because he’s there to get the Russian sanctions lifted and get done for ExxonMobil the biggest petroleum deal ever.
he’s one of the few adults in this administration. I hope he hangs on.
Makes him relatable as far as crap you put up with for your job. Who among us hasn’t said, “Boy, if it wasn’t for that $500 billion dollar deal I’m looking to get back on track I’d be outta here so fast…”
But exactly…
Zero, Nada, Zip experience in government and diplomacy
Not that it shows…/s
It ain’t a business
and you of all people should have known that when you signed on
Even with only your business experience You should have known above all else you were dealing with some major assholes
I"m taking odds on how quickly Tillerson resigns to “spend more time with his family.” Bring on SOS nominee John Bolton!! He’ll take care of the State Department…heh heh.
I also don’t like him.
Only thing in Tillerson’s favor is his industry background makes him well aware that we have many smart workers here that are on work visa’s.
That’s what it comes down too, isn’t it? A greedy ex-Exon CEO is at least a rational leader.
