Discussion for article #226484
IT WAS AN ACCIDENT PEOPLE!!! Or just a bad three year old with a gun.
Dry cleaning bags are labeled “This bag is not a toy,” so that parents know they are dangerous for children to play with.
Maybe we should put those labels on guns.
from the article “apparent accident” - I guess they have ruled out suicide attempt. Morons.
How can anyone leave a 3 years old alone in a hot car or with a gun is beyond comprehension. Heck, when my kids were that age I didn’t leave them alone with cheerios!
The NRA default theory goes something like, Often the vic had it coming so the member (or prospective member) was justified in resorting to the peacemaker.
Now, sometimes its application to Real Life can be a little opaque, but it’s been around a long time and served the NRA well. So, just because it’s maybe a bit more difficult to see how it applies in this case, we should take care maybe not to throw the you know what out with the whatever.
Another biased TPM story with no news about the gun. And another point for the state of Georgia.
Is it OK? Was it injured or damaged in the shooting? Was it returned to its rightful owner?
In addition to the above, new categories we should start asking: How many other “accidental” shootings has THIS GUN been involved in? What is the manufacturer and model of gun involved here?
Suppose we find that one specific gun is responsible for shooting and/or killing three [or more] people. Is that a “Three strikes, you’re out” case? Where the gun gets destroyed?
What about “accidental” shootings of pets? Who speaks for them?
Show me the amendment that ensures my constitutional right to bear dry-cleaning bags.
Any condition of any kind on the right of a traditional American patriot to form up into his very own personal armed militia is crazy talk and treason and needs to be wiped out with extreme you-know-what.
You can’t compare that to the so-called right of some hipster doofus to have his freshly chemo’d suede tie-dye pimp suit protected from ambient dust and accidental wrinkling.

“This representational penis is not a toy–it’s the Golden Calf of the 2A fetishists, dammit!!”
Where was the gun that a three year-old could get it? It happened at 10PM; why was the kid still up and about? Were any adults supervising the kid?
When Congress returns, they will be narrow-focused on the November elections. Assuming that Democrats retain the Senate, I’d like to see a bill quickly introduced that requires keyed trigger locks installed on all hand guns (at least).
