Hope that all three Democratic candidates agree to participate. Last night’s town hall was very informative. The Democrats need to get their message out to all potential voters despite Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s best efforts to stifle discussion.
In all fairness, Hillary was 15 when Goldwater ran in 1964.
Did I not see a few days ago, when they added that serial-questioning-non-debate in Iowa a few days ago, people complained that Wasserman-Schultz only added that to give Hillary a better chance? So, more is better for Hillary, but less is better for her too, and it’s all a conspiracy to favor her somehow.
Thank you for that much more concise and more powerful way of stating the main point that I was trying to get across with my long-winded comment upthread. You rock!
Another one? This is just going to lead to every self-obsessed early voting state wanting it’s own debate. I’m already tired of them.
What I really would pay to watch is all the GOP contenders being queried by Rachel Maddow. I know they wouldn’t show up, but wouldn’t that be worth a few hours of your time? LOL.
Chuck Todd is there to turn all the Republican talking points into questions.
… former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said in a statement he would attend the debate.
Man I hope the other two don’t show, I really want to hear what O’Malley has to say because I need a good night’s sleep. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
… Since when is it Chuck Todd’s job to host a debate?
What is this world coming to?
Well, he sure won’t be there to ask questions that matter to Democrats. He’s proven incapable of giving a shit when it comes to those issues, or how they matter to us lefties.
Poor little megalomaniac DWS – she just can’t get no respect. This is what democracy looks like…or should look like. We don’t operate at the pleasure of the fucking DNC, and it’s a little premature for the coronation of the Queen.
O’Malley and Sanders can debate here, and from that point on, Clinton can talk to herself at the pathetically-few remaining “sanctioned” debates. So, the Queen and her court can have her way in the end, but it’ll look as patently ridiculous as it is, cowering from the threatening vision of an alleged “explosion” of debates and so sanctioning her two competitors for having the unmitigated audacity to speak to each other outside party control. Just who the hell do these people think they are, right, Debbie?!
The League of Women Voters should be back in charge, and these “debates” should be taken out of party control. Maybe this turn of events will create a spark that will enable that to occur.
You could have written just the above in your post and it would have been relevant to the issue at hand. You didn’t need to wallow in anti-Hillary rhetoric. Serves no purpose whatsoever.
Here, here!
DWS should fall on her sword for just dressing like this, and for a NYT Sunday Magazine interview no less.
@trippin
DWS will bring in the Junior League who could also teach her how to dress as appropriate for her job. People might think clothes don’t matter but they do.
Good. Too bad they’re too chickenshit to do this with the GOP. Frankly, it’s pretty disgusting that the “news” media, our vaunted “Fourth Estate” tucks tail at the slightest whiff of lost ad revenue. Debates shouldn’t even have to be “sanctioned” by some fucking party apparatus. Networks like MSNBC and CBS or whatever should be able to say
“We’re going to hold a debate. We’re going to put it on our calendar and program schedule. We’re going to invite you all to come and participate and offer you some dates and times to choose from. If you fail to show up we will talk about your cowardice for the 2-3 hour debate time slot while showing our invitations, your responses, the empty podiums and the worst footage of you we can find from your campaign stops and speeches. Step up to the plate, answer the fucking questions, take your lumps and be a fucking adult or suffer for it. You decide.”
Instead, they act like mewling ad revenue addicts and pussy-footers who desperately don’t want to lose access and ad revenue. Why? Because having created the cult of personality, the culture of celebrity and built the ad revenue brothel in which they now operate, the 'news" networks gave all the power to the personalities and left none to themselves. Pathetic.
Congratulations, Ms. Maddow. Well done.
I’ll take that only if full seppuku is truly off the table.
She’s a disaster.
The blood and gore from seppuku could only improve this outfit
In previous years, candidates weren’t punished for unsanctioned debates. That’s why there were 26 debates in 2008. Debbie Wasserman Schultz started the policy of telling candidates that if they do unsanctioned debates then they can’t do sanctioned debates.
If Debbie Wasserman Schultz sanctions this debate, then it will happen.
But Hillary Clinton isn't going to embarrass her supporter DWS by agreeing to an unsanctioned debate after DWS opposed unsanctioned debates. And Bernie Sanders isn't going to agree to just debate Martin O'Malley knowing he'd be disinvited to the final two sanctioned debates.
