Discussion: Report: Secret Service Agents Allegedly Drove Car Into White House Barricade

Discussion for article #234224

“The officers reportedly wanted to arrest the agents but were told by a supervisor to let them go home.”

I am going to assume the supervisor will also be investigated.

Welp, there ya go. I blame Irish music. Fuck you, Clancy Brothers.

tomorrow on MSNBC Scarborough will blame black rap and hip/hop music… even tho it was documented that they were listening and singing along to Barry Manilow music at the time…

Well, so much for the big shakeup and promise of change and all that bullshit with these guys. I really don’t think they have the president’s back and before the lectures come invoking the “few bad apples” excuse, has there ever been a steady stream of Keystone Secret Service stories in memory like these?

We will have to stop calling the 2016 GOP contenders the clown car and start calling them the Secret Service.

However the President chooses to protect himself is his business, I guess. But damn! When is he going to give a crap about the protection of his family? He’s turning out to be like Bush: promote those who perform horribly.

Can I be a Secret Service agent? At least I will be honest when asked if I would take a bullet for the POTUS (the answer is the same as all the current agents, a resounding NO.)

“A resounding NO”? Really? Prove it, asswhole.

Are Secret Service jobs patronage jobs? Are these guys like tug boat pilots in New Orleans? Son/brother/cousin of one and you’ve got a sweet job: $300K/yr and all the beak you can fire into your nostrils.

I would not be shocked if we were to learn that the SS is riddled with dysfunctional addicts, white racist rageoholics, vets suffering from PTSD, Teabaggers, and unconvicted rapists who, oopsy!, happen to let Obama get assassinated.

Any reason why Secret Service employees seem to drink too much and go for whores too much?

No to be dramatic but this bullshit is all part of the current DC culture where it is ok to yell “You lie!” at the President as he delivers the State of the Union, where Republicans invite a foreign leader to undercut him as he is in the midst of negotiating a delicate agreement with an adversary, where 47 opposition Senators sign a letter saying don’t listen to the President of the U.S… The culture of disrespect and trying to invalidate his authority is something the GOP and the right-wing media has been working on since the day President Obama got elected.

If they’d crashed into the 47 GOP Senate traitors the SS party boys would be heros to some and hours of grist for the FOX millstone.

The very good film entitled In the Line of Fire starred (sorry!) Clint Eastwood who played a burned out SS agent who missed taking a bullet for JFK in 1963. He had become anti-social, bitter, cynical etc., but got to redeem his sorry ass by actually taking a bullet for the sitting president. It’s the only film of his I can watch nowadays.

Really? Unforgiven was excellent.

It’s not like he’s Mel Gibson or Vanessa Redgrave*. His politics aren’t mine, but it doesn’t grate to see or hear him.

*Or Victor Jory; Efrem Zimbalist, Jr; or the rest of that fascist/McCarthyite cohort.

How can you not like “Bronco Billy”?

Tom Cotton and the Republican girly men are sending a letter to Iran’s supreme leader to complain about this.

John Boehner is begging Bibi to come solve this matter since Boehner has a golf and martini date!

Let me guess, all the secret service agents were frat brats in college!

As long as it’s in Homeland Security, just one more agency with guns among many competing for resources and time, it will be dysfunctional. Pull it out of HS, separate Diplomat Protection back out and give it back to State, and put it back into Treasury where it was the proud flagship agency of the entire department.

You win! The first to post, “it’s Obama’s fault”

I don’t like cowboy films, but I do like weepers, so I also put Bridges of Madison County on that short list.
