Discussion for article #240054
Trump would happily sign it and then wipe his ass with it when he loses the nomination. His supporters would cheer.
I hope it goes down like that.
What is in it for them to sign it? Trump has given all of them a way out.
Next they will all start wearing arm bands.
I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is
Even if the winner’s initials are DJT? Think before you leap people.
These people need to grow up and move on. I’m told this is step one in blocking Trump from debates, as in, only those who sign the pledge can play in out debates.
Donald Trump is here to stay and they need to deal with. They can’t stop him with silly pledges or debate rules designed to block him.
Let Trump run his campaign and he will very likely solve the problem for them. The more they try to interfere the more popular they make him.
They’re real fear, by the way, is that he can’t be bought off. They have nothing to offer Trump that he wants unlike actual politicians of both parties. If he collects enough delegates, there’s nothing to stop him from wrecking the convention and then charging full steam into a third party campaign and they are scared to death.
They should have thought about this before they invested so much time and energy into radicalizing their base. Who knew a riot was uncontrollable?
Perfect!!!
They are absolutely terrified of Big Door slamming them Third Party Style.
Take the Oath, boys: It’s easy. You’ve done it before.

Of course he would.
Perhaps totem-pole analogies are even better, because I just can’t help thinking that this book, which is a thought experiment analogy regarding the whole Nazi thing, is in fact a better analogy for the “experiment” that is the whole rightward diaspora Teatroll movement thing than making the direct analogy with the Nazis. Everyone read this in like grade school, right? The experiment that got out of control…
Armbands, teabags…tomatoe, tomahtoe…
I [name] affirm
What happened to swearing on a Bible? Reince Priebus is a fucking godless communist.
No, they wouldn’t. Once they realize that Trump will betray the GOP Establishment, all of his Establishment-hating supporters will return their allegiance to the Republican Estab… oh … [pause] … right, I think I see the problem here…
I’ve never seen a party so afraid of losing control. They are terrified of the outlook of their collective future. They are fully aware of the fact that white people will soon be the minority in this country, and minorities will be the majority, and it turns their tighty whiteys brown with fear. They see the writing on the wall and are trying to close ranks, rig the game, and lie, cheat and steal their way back into power. This “pledge”, as corny as it is, reeks of desperation…I am actually rooting for Trump to tell them to eff off.
Yes, it certainly sounds like a party that is in free-fall.
Karl Rove is going to write a book about McKinley.
Jeb Bush is being emasculated by The Donald.
Walker is a doofus.
Well, we’re more than a year away. Surely, the republican party will get its act together.
Or not.
Chelsea, it scares me to imagine what a Republican in the white house would mean for this country, especially if they hold the majority in the two chambers of Congress. I read some things that frighten me. For example, there are Neo-Con think tanks that will propose, first chance they get, which would be provided for them should a conservative win the white house in 2016, electoral colleges that follow the gerrymandered maps they have drawn in most states currently, because there are currently more GOP governors than Dem, WITHIN THE STATE! So, US senate elections will be decided by an electoral college, and not the popular vote. That would mean they can win without winning. I’ll see if I can locate the article. It’s scary. I fear that if they win the white house, and maintain control of congress, they will never relinquish power again.
Relax.
Not sure how binding that pledge would actually be, and considering a guy like Trump who would choose to run Independent after losing the GOP nomination is already giving them a big FU so it’s not like he cares. What are they gonna do, sue him? So much for tort reform, 'murica and Freedom™.
Grover Norquist could have come up with a better pledge than this thing about affirming and pledging, including something about drowning the party in a bathtub.
The Rs have to defend 24 seats including some in purple states, and Dems only 10. Hope is beginning to raise her head.
