Discussion: Report Reveals McGahn’s Personal Hell Of Repeatedly Rebuffing An Angry Trump

Nobody ever “deserves” to die ashamed and in pain, but in the case of Cohn, you can’t say that karma didn’t work.

Personally, I would have been quite happy to have him continue living for many healthy years after his disbarment, in utter disgrace.

Just not long enough that he could come crawling back out from behind the baseboard now, like Newt Gingrich and Elliot Abrams and other critters from those years.

Look, McGahn is a political radical, and his goal is a pro-corporation, pro-rich Federal Court system. But when it came time to do illegal acts, he refused. In hell, but in an outer ring. He had more integrity than most in Trump World.

This said, my nagging suppression is he did the right thing, not because it was the right thing, but because if he did what Trump wanted, it would have taken both of them down. If so, he goes back to the center of hell…

That’s the best quote I’ve read so far.

Having the line “Special Assistant to the President” on one’s resume DOES have a certain cachet. Even if they worked for Dubya. But like the shitgibbon minions who can’t find DATES now, they won’t be able to find JOBS later. Tots and pears!!!

Weep not, irasdad.

In his telling, as a child of the Reagan era, he wanted no part in asking the deputy attorney general to fire the special counsel; he wanted to be like Judge Robert Bork rather than “Saturday Night Massacre Bork,” McGahn said

He had no soul from the get go. And he helped confirm on the fucking Supreme Court a person who is much worse, less principled and less accomplished, notwithstanding the GWB appointment to the DC Circuit, than Saturday Night Massacre Robert Bork.

Child of the Reagan Era. Where they violated the Boland Amendment and covered it up and the President had to plead senile memory loss and let his butt buddy Oliver North take the rap. Yeah, they totally hated the Saturday Night Massacre during the Reagan Era, all those little Republican operative children of the Reagan Fucking Era…

Seems like Donnie gets all his news from the “Fake News” he lambasts. Shocking, I know.

So the story recounted here does not constitute obstruction of justice. “I ordered WHC to fire Mueller, and then ordered him to lie about my having ordered him to fire Mueller.” Whatevs, man. Wait, is that a flock of pigs flying by my window?

But did any of them record phone calls? Could be pretty awkward if they did.

I’m not a lawyer, but for the life of me, I can’t understand how these actions aren’t obstruction of justice.

Trust me when I say I’ve learned the hard way over the years that you really have to trust your gut on these things. I can remember two jobs I took despite some pretty serious warning bells and both ended disastrously. One thing I can also tell you is that if the House called people like Sarah Sanders in, made her repeat her testimony that what she said about Comey losing the FBI staff’s trust was based on nothing and “a slip of the tongue,” if they did that to everyone who hasn’t already left, it would be devastating IMHO. Call in everyone. Go over everything so it’s on video. Make these liars admit it. Show them for the pack of demagogues they are. I’d be talking that up in the halls of Congress right now.

The report explicitly declined to clear him of that. I don’t know if the DOJ guidelines or the prosecutorial burden of proof was more important in his essentially kicking it over to Congress to handle it through impeachment but Robert Mueller did not say Trump had not committed obstruction, and he made a point of saying he hadn’t said it.

What McGahn suffered was small payment for his mission to install the likes of Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court so the damage done to the country would be ensured for a couple generations to come. I’d be fine if Trump kicked him in the nuts “in the middle of 5th Avenue”.

McGahn deserves no sympathy.

He wanted power to stack the courts with far-right-wing assholes, and he deserved more hell than he got.

True, people like McGahn built the world they live in.

The oddity is they think it should be something different.

So how long before the barrage of Tweets decrying the perfidy of “Angry Democrat Don McGahn”?
