Of course, he’s right not to genuflect, but Peña Nieto really can’t afford to show any weakness on this issue. Mexico elects a new president this year, and the PRI, his party, is in a real dog-fight with a couple of other parties.
ETA: In Mexico this election year, patriotism is very much in vogue. Funny how that happens when the president of a country with whom you have a very long and painful history seems intent on adding to that pain.

Not only is he a “Master of the Deal,” he’s a professional diplomat, too! Wait, come to think of it, both of those statements are simply lies this insecure little twit has to tell himself so he sleeps better at night. Why any of the rest of us believe him is beyond me.
I think the real reason that Pena Nieto decided he didn’t want to meet is that he was afraid Trump would serve him one of those Trump Tower taco bowls.
Even if Trump had promised Pena-Nieto he wasn’t going to bring up the wall, would you believe him? With an election coming up in Mexico in July, if I were Pena-Nieto, there’s no way I’d take that chance. Basically, what I’m saying is that the current US President is a congenital liar who cannot be trusted with the facts, the truth, or even to control his temper. Just stay away, stay far away.

Donnie knows his followers are stupid and uniformed enough that they still think Mexico is paying for the wall. They don’t even know that donnie admits Mexico is not paying for the wall. And donnie wants to keep it that way. As usual, he risks our standing in the world, to uphold his standing with his (ever-shrinking) base.
