The FISA warrants weren’t paper airplanes. There was a trove of existing intel that only began with the 2013 letter.
I’ve wondered myself if Page was a double agent. Oh well, fuck that business of classified info. Trump can declassify whatever he wants, which is terrifying. If he thinks declassifying secret information will save his ass from prison, he’ll do it, despite the danger to the country.
I suspect that the pool of people willing to work with Trump is much smaller than would be available to any other candidate or administration, D or R.
I know and a Page defense could/would be “well why isn’t he in jail?”, while clearly forgetting that just because Page was a clear cut patsy doesn’t mean that the IC doesn’t have something to blow that theory up.
The letter alone is enough for the FBI to surveil Page to find out what he’s doing with the Russians.
I’m not doing ‘devil’s advocate’ today, sorry.
No kidding. Also, I sure wouldn’t encourage any youngster into joining the military now. Just as I didn’t with my own son when W became commander in chief.
Perhaps the biggest stupid in the whole Nunes mess is that it was an objection to surveillance of an agent of the Kremlin. And here Carter Page is, saying in English that he is an agent of a foreign power.
Nunes and Page, in other words, are partners. DOJ is going to have to assess whether Nunes continues to get classified information and briefings. The fact that Nunes is now a hero of the Trumpists speaks volumes.
True. I purposely left off what the errand boy was fetching. Coffee, vodka, US government secrets…
This won’t look good on a resume.
Carter Page claimed in 2013 “to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin.”
Tokyo Rose claimed in 1943 “to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Japanese.”
Benedict Arnold claimed in 1780 “to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the British.”
Judas Iscariot claimed in 33 AD “to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Romans.”
Is there a Tweeter thread for this?
I could, but the thing is while that letter is possibly just a letter, it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a larger Page bombshell on the horizon.
Now that letter might be key to something to…earth shattering (?), but right now, it says a lot more about his character.
In London, Benedict Arnold aligned himself with the Tories, advising Germain and King George III to renew the fight against the Americans. In the House of Commons, Edmund Burke expressed the hope that the government would not put Arnold “at the head of a part of a British army” lest “the sentiments of true honour, which every British officer [holds] dearer than life, should be afflicted.”
there needs to be.
And the R’s would have us believe that the FISA process was corrupted? I call BS!
This could have been the means by which Page was being provided cover, if he was a US intelligence asset. When considering what a loose canon Page is, how bizarre his public behavior has been, I find this angle intriguing but not definitive. Hopefully, when/if Mueller finishes his investigation, answers to questions like this will be revealed.
Hopefully, he won’t need one where he’s going.
In other words: There’s no reason, at all, that he should have been interesting to counter-intelligence agents here, Just because he was working for a hostile foreign power, it’s not like he was a liberal, or anything bad like that.
Trump did not expect to win. He thought it would be a great marketing ploy. When he won he thought it meant he was brilliant but the thing is analysis showed any Republican candidate should have won the popular vote, he didn’t. Anyway he just hired who ever showed up because he needed warm bodies in those positions, they didn’t have to be smart or know how to do their jobs, those were actually disadvantages to Trump because he was planning on losing and why spend a penny more than you have to? (Campaign funds should be spent on hotel stays as Trump branded facilities, etc). It is no surprise he assembled this confederacy of dunces, the surprising thing is how quickly and totally the Republicans in Congress have become Trumpublicans. The only ones showing any spine are the ones who think maybe they will run for POTUS in the future, but every last one of them including the wannabe- prezs has backed his play time and again. It will be a pleasure to never vote for these faux conservatives again. It is a tragedy that this whole farce may lead to the destruction of our nation. We cannot prosper with out both sides of the political spectrum, conservatives ensuring that we look long and hard at any change, and liberals ensuring we try to find the best future.
Not only that these numbskulls were taught to tie the “hangman’s noose” all by themselves. Likely it was for a merit badge of some sort.
I have to assume that Carter Page doesn’t know the Russian government folk are not our friends.
Good sentence. Needs to be on a big billboard somewhere.
