Discussion: Report: Officials Nixed Idea Of Don King, Bill Clinton Accuser Speaking At RNC

I suppose a train wreck would be preferable to self-immolation…from the point of view of the RNC.

“As of Friday, some speakers hadn’t been given guidance by the campaign or been asked to submit speeches for vetting.”

This is truly a disaster. There are a number of certifiable kooks on the list of speakers. These are not the kind of people you want going off script or left to their own imagination to come up with subject matter.

Yeah, the RNC wouldn’t dare risk that…

Who are the B and C list celebrities? These celebrities couldn’t get a table at Applebee’s on Friday night.

I disagree…

These are PRECISELY the people I want going off script and left to come up with their own subject matter. But, I am kinda cruel in that way

I intend to throw myself in front of my couch to prevent it from happening.

Lol Very true. Any bets on who’ll be first to call Clinton a bitch?

Where’s Ted Nugent?

“Bitch” if they’re lucky.

Nightly speeches will include these and all other hot button topics from right wing radio and Fox News.

Bill Clinton’s infidelity, Hillary Clinton’s response to the attack
on the American compound in Benghazi, and immigration.

It gets better.

Trump campaign hired a new “director of rapid response,” Steven Cheung. His primary responsibility will not be to combat the claims of the opposition — the usual job of political rapid response — but rather to take on the reportage of the news media.

Even more telling was Mr. Cheung’s pedigree. He last served as the spokesman for Ultimate Fighting Championship, the mixed-martial-arts league where opponents seek to beat each other into submission — in a fenced-in octagon that’s practically a cage.

I’ll go with "last name begins with a '‘T’ "

What? No caddies available?

From the Times’ article. I feel bad for the reporters forced to write this stuff.

The biggest celebrities other than the nominee will be a star of “Duck Dynasty” and actors from “The Young and the Restless,” “General Hospital” and “Charles in Charge.

Correction: July 18, 2016
An earlier version of this article incorrectly included the actor and model Antonio Sabato Jr. among Hispanics speaking at the Republican National Convention. Mr. Sabato is a native of Italy; he is not Hispanic.

They seriously don’t remember the empty chair? I actually went back and watched it again recently. It’s much, much worse than you remember it. Sooo weird.

Yeah, well, Trump still gets some credit for a nod to the swarthy.

That’s not much help. There seem to be about a dozen Trumps on the list.

“The Times reported that top Trump aide Paul Manafort confirmed some speakers would reference Bill Clinton’s “harassment” of women and Hillary Clinton’s “enabling” of that behavior, though.”

Is the Hillary campaign going to remain mum about the rape accusations against Trump? Or are they–hopefully–saving that for after the convention?

He is a recent hire. The last person in that position was only there for about a week and half. I am willing to bet that “Director” Cheung has a department of one…maybe a few volunteer staffers assigned to him, but not much more than that.

Last I heard he was arguing with representatives of the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office about his right to cruise Del Rio Middle School with his AR-15 or, at the very least, his Wicked Ridge Warrior G3™ Crossbow.

“I have a date and I want her to be safe,” he told authorities.

If you’re talking about that one involving the supposed 13-year-old there’s some very serious question about the legitimacy of that. The other, more proven stuff may be handed off to surrogates. I think the campaign wants to show who Trump is without compromising its own dignity. Rubio showed how a real mud-flinging duel can backfire on you.
