You know the saying about prosecutors getting grand juries to indict ham sandwiches. Now that the chips are down, I have a feeling that the pig is safe and gets to keep all the bread he raised.
his lawyer doesnât get to say a word, at least not in front of a real grand jury. thatâs strictly the DAâs baby.
I am willing to bet none of the half a dozen or so witnesses who saw the shooting, and even have video, or audio tape of it will ever be called to testify in front of that grand jury.
Itâs cliche that a District Attorney can convince a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. If they donât indict, itâs because the DA didnât want to try the case.
Iâve never heard of a potential defendant being allowed to state his case and proclaim his innocence before the grand jury that is charged with his indictment before.
Do they get to see all the video tapes and hear from all the eyewitnesses first? How else can they possibly be able to determine if he is lying or not?
Many people believe that there is no circumstance in which this DA will get an indictment against a cop. Heâs got the family history where his father was an officer killed in the line of duty, and heâs apparently never sought prosecution of a police officer during a long term in office. I wouldnât want to live in Ferguson when the grand jury âno billsâ this.
I donât see any upside for him testifying. He must have some really bad attorneys. If they feel it might give him a pr advantage to get it âoff his chestâ, then they really donât understand how perjury works and shouldnât be practicing law.
Now that the white contractors video hit the tubes, all the testimony by the black witnesses has been corroborated and cannot be called biased. I suppose it made the Defense team panic.
I still think there is a good chance that he gets off with practically nothing because a video of the actual altercation has not yet surfaced. The police are always given a wide latitude to act once they say they were attacked and felt unsafe.
The anger and frustration is far from over. The judge realized that ending this grand jury before the election would probably have the protests spread throughout the metro area and maybe go national. We will not see anything happen till January at the earliest.
There just maybe a tape which hasnât been turned over yet because the black community doesnât trust the DA. If so, Iâm thinking it will land in the court of public opinion if an indictment is not made.
The DA better get his priorities straight and realize that he represents the dead victimâŚnot his dead father. Itâs not about him and his feelings.
The cop has the support of his union and a vast army of bigots across the nation. He can afford the best defense lawyers but can he afford to tell the truthâŚeven to himself?
He should have thought twice before shooting so many times when only one shot would have got the job done if he felt threatened. Thatâs how he was trained to react. He didnât do that. .
So heâs guilty of something. He needs to be held responsible for âhisâ inappropriate actions. I really donât know what the police chief thought he was doing releasing that convenience store tape that he knew wasnât relevant and would cast doubt upon the dead man.
Itâs galvanized the black community against this DA. I hope he rises to the occasion and proves his doubters wrong.
Curious here - would using a crutch and an arm sling while testifying be perjury? Wouldnât put it past them to pull some BS.
They interview one at a time. Obviously there will be numerous interviews, just like with any other grand jury.
??? Obviously if there is a grand jury, he and all witnesses will be testifying. Does not have anything to do with the chances for indictment. Those chances rest on the grand juries weighing all the testimony.
Last time I checked, not one homicide victim in history has testified for obvious reasons. Why would this be different?
That is absurd, of course all of them will. Thatâs the whole point of a grand jury. Surely you must be joking if you think the only testimony will be the shooter. Thatâs just plain silly.
âŚonce they say they are attacked and especially they kill the eyewitness
Good to see heâs out of the ICU.
McCullochâs office had previously said that Wilson would be âoffered the opportunityâ to testify. It is generally unusual, however, for the subject of a grand jury investigation to agree to testify because of the legal risk involved.
This suggests two things to me. First that Killer Wilson has been spending a lot of his vacation being coached by attorneys. Much like Zimmerman spent his free time being coached. Second, I think itâs already a done deal that McColluch is ready to say âHey he spoke for four hours thatâs good enough for me. This case is over.â
If this case doesnât go to trial, I think residents of Ferguson and surrounding communities should renegotiate a lower deductable on their fire insurance.
I have this creepy eerie feeling that they already know what the outcome is going to be. They just have to figure out how to dress it all up for the public. Probably the insurance companies are in on it already. Lets let âthemâ burn the town down and we can move them out to no mans land and then rebuild fancy new buildings. Perfect scapegoat scenario. Bush got away with it in New Orleans trying to get rid of a democrat.
I put nothing past them.
