Funny you say that, because we already have irrefutable proof that the Neolib Dem standard bearer loses to Trump.
Is being okay warm in Arizona cactus-hole state. Maybe I try Bakersfield next.
Getting our sh#t together also means noticing and broadcasting the hell out of shenanigans like this which just happened in Montana:[Green Party candidate was on state GOP payroll]
A Sanders/Warren ticket is a nonstarter for me but, in the unlikely event they would form a ticket and win the primary, I would volunteer, canvass, phone bank, GOTV for them as hard as I would a ticket I preferred because I realize the consequences.
Unfortunately, not all in my party are as unselfish.
I don’t want Senator Sanders to run again, and I think Senator Warren’s time passed in 2016, so I hope that she does not run, either.
That said, I want them both to stay in the Senate.
I do agree with the New Zealand diplomat. Truth!
P.S. I don’t want Biden, either.
Ditto. Have yet to convince my missus.
Seeing how her govt. is dealing with a sex assault scandal, she shouldn’t be too loud in complaining about the U.S…
"Please get your shit together or we will all die.”
Fat chance. we’ve been telling them that for years and they never listen.
And Sanders/Warren? No. Fucking. Way.
All we need is a certain segment of the Dem base to start thinking they are entitled to a certain ticket. And start thinking of ways that the illuminati are cheating to keep it from happening.
That’s a compelling image.
But Sanders/Warren could do for the Democratic Party what McGovern/EagletonShriver did for it in 1972. For those under the age of about 50, this was the result:
Nominee Richard Nixon George McGovern
Party Republican Democratic
Home state California South Dakota
Running mate Spiro Agnew Sargent Shriver (replaced Thomas Eagleton)
Electoral vote 520 17
States carried 49 1 + DC
Popular vote 47,168,710 29,173,222
Percentage 60.7% 37.5%
It is sad to say, but progressive just doesn’t play well at the polls.
Lessons : History : Ignore : Repeat.
I knew I loved New Zealand for more than the great scenery in the “Lord of the Rings” movies.
But please don’t tell Susan Serendipity and her Army of Righteousness and Political Unreality about what that nasty Kiwi person said, because Susan’s Glorious Candy-Colored-Rockettes-Like-Singing-And-Dancing-Unicorn-And-Sparkle-Pony-Kickline Revolution is right around that fucking corner. Just ask all the deported immigrants. And the people who are going to lose their healthcare. And gay people and women who are being shit on again. And black people who are openly being discriminated against by racists in the government. And the people seeing their kids being killed by gun violence. They all agree: that glorious revolution is gonna come Any. Second. Now!
Yeah, I’m relitigating the 2016 election. So fucking sue me.
THIS. A thousand times THIS!
Substitute in the names of any just about Democratic contenders, and this is the right answer!
I mean Jumpin’ Jeebus On A Steam-Powered Unicycle – I’d vote for Kaine/Manchin if it meant defeating Trump.
Biden’s chance was 2016. He would have won easily. Why he didn’t run then but may in 2020 makes no sense. it is beyond fishy and plays into all the Fox news “Clinton Machine” conspiracy theories.
Sounds like every Democratic primary ever.
if anyone can screw it up…it’s us.
Caroline Beresford is right on all counts.
We all have to understand that controlling Congress and the WH means building a coalition that will require compromise on ideology. What sells in WV doesn’t sell in California and vice versa. It’s hard work and everyone needs to get real.
Republican are currently in control because they vote in every election and used their gains in 2010 (as Democrats sat out and bouted because they didn’t get a unicorn) to gerrymander their control of Congress and state legislatures for a decade. When Republicans are unhappy with a candidate (as they often are) they hold their nose and fucking vote so they can choose Federal judges and roll back regulations, etc. We, on the the other hand cut our nose off to spite our face.
I would encourge everyone to read Kevin’s thoughts from a while back: https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/04/heres-why-i-never-warmed-bernie-sanders/
You forget that JFK was assassinated in 1963 and his brother Robert (who would have beat Nixon easily in '68) was also assassinated. Both Kennedys were strong progressives.
In '72 Nixon ran a viciously corrupt and criminal re-election campaign against McGovern. Remember something called “Watergate?”
Using Nixon/McGovern in '72 as an example that a “progressive just doesn’t play well at the polls” is kind of absurd.
Sanders really only cares about the adulation he gets making promises he will never have to keep. Warren is a little too strident and an easy target for Trump. Biden is the most humane of the possible candidate as evidenced by his talking to the homeless man. Biden/Lamb? Biden/Schiff? Biden/Doug Jones? Biden/Julian Castro?
“Yes I did send those tweets and realised very quickly that they were inappropriate, which is why I deleted them,” Beresford told Newsroom.
I respectfully disagree, Ms. Beresford. There is a time and place to be blunt. For example, now.
Talking about Presidential tickets is a waste at this point. So much depends on where Democrats are after the midterms, and so much has to be put together. Let the candidates go for it, and we will see in the wash.
