There’s a Chick-Fil-A less than two miles from my house. I haven’t been there since the GOPers had their big day to celebrate the now dead owner’s bigotry a few years ago, and I don’t plan to ever set foot in Chick-Fil-A for the rest of my life. I had enough of racism, bigotry, and discrimination when I was forced to follow Jim Crow laws when I was growing up in GA. Some others thought that because I had too much melanin in my skin to suit their taste, I wasn’t a human being and worthy of enjoying the same rights as they enjoyed.

Elections have consequences.

Thank you, NBA folks!

They’ll never get a Super Bowl or MLB All-Star game. NC will have to practically give away the bank in tax forgiveness schemes to get companies to relocate there, further eroding the state treasury. Yet it won’t surprise anyone if they hold fast to the law. Hate and fear and ignorance run deep.

Good for the NBA!
If the NC red-necks don’t have morals, hit them in the pocketbook.
Money is all they understand.

So you know, we do get it. But, will it make a difference? Most here squeak out a living and the question is, what will the impact be on their livelihood? And will other southern states with ‘privacy’ concerns support NC and will they all take a stand - together?

I’m sure the state pols will point out that Charlotte passing their ordinance in the first place ultimately led to the loss of their (Charlotte’s) All Star Game. I’m sure there’s plenty of people outside Charlotte eager to lap up that us vs. them framing.

“Don’t worry, bigots. You still have Chik Fil-A”

I’m sorry but their Peach shake is to die for! I’ll try to try harder but peach is only available for about two months.

I’m going to hold my final opinion until after November’s elections. NC’s voters have a chance to turn their ship in a new direction and start the long, slow process of undoing the damage that’s been done. I know a few folks from the beautiful state of North Carolina – and they aren’t asshats. In many ways, NC reminds me of Kansas. There are many good, pretty moderate people there as well – they’re just outnumbered by religious bigots (not claiming all religious people are bigots … but KS and NC do have a very loud contingency of them).

I’m really sorry the City of Charlotte will be taking the hit here – Charlotte is the good guy in this messed-up fight. Unfortunately, though, sometimes organizations such as the NBA are forced to make very uncomfortable, difficult decisions.

Voters of North Carolina, please PLEASE show up at the polls this November – and then again in 2018 for the mid-terms. In many ways, the mid-terms are more important – that’s exactly how McCrory and your legislature have commandeered your state and turned it into an ultra-conservative, polluting-your-river, give away the bank to the bad guys haven. VOTE!!

I’ll forgive your peach shake if you will forgive me getting Chicken Minis for my dog. My dog doesn’t understand boycotts and is accustomed to being treated with Minis on occasion. I tried to have her help me in boycotting, but got dirty looks every time we drove past without stopping. (She can see the location from a block away and starts wiggling her ass in the car.)

I forgive you, Darcy. Sometimes the body has to have what it wants/needs. You are allowed a two-month pass. :smile_cat:

We’re working on it. But it will be hard to overcome the know-nothing vote.

Why get a shake from Chick-Fil-A when you have Cookout?

Agreed, and I respect how he went about it. There was no need to make a hasty decision. He gave them time to think about it, feel the consequences, and make the right decision. They chose not to and left him with no choice.

McCrory’s House Bill 2 was a gift for Cooper and it’s a gift that’s been continually giving in $$$ - instate. But outside money coming to McCrory is about 40 to 1. Cooper can debate and really has the personal and perfect family image. It will be close.

Yeah, some things are just a matter of principle. I won’t go in a Hobby Lobby either. You’ve got to stand for something. When I found out I’d been giving my hard earned money to a place that was teaching my niece and kids like her to hate themselves it really almost made me physically ill. I don’t care what they’re serving, it’s just not worth it. Plus, if I’m going to blow my fried chicken calorie/carb wad, it sure as hell isn’t going to be on that mess.

[/quote]Hmm … not familiar with Cookout. Are they an equivalent of Chick-Fil-A? (I almost never eat out, much less at fast food places).

It’s a fast-food chain here in NC. Food is so/so, but their shakes are pretty darn good. And you can combine as many mix-ins as you want, so there are many, many permutations of flavors to choose from.

Stopped with the special treats feeding my dog like that after I realized he never enjoyed what I was giving him as his fixation was on the next one I had in my hand. Gotta scold them from time to time. I mean, what’s the world to come to, giving dogs fast food, men walking 'round in nylons! Some already wearing nail polish! Always be ready … Lock and Load 'Merica. Where was I?
