Discussion: Report: Mueller Team Has Questioned Cohen About Russia, Pardon Talks

Just a reminder that it’s Friday tomorrow, Mr. Mueller.

The GOP is already in full-blown panic mode, new indictment’s would send them over the edge of their flat earth.

This thing where the dumb hump reached down into the muck into which he’d willingly waded and came up with a single, decayed and tattered shred of his dignity and another slim thread of his long lost integrity has sucked most of the joy I so gleefully anticipated when contemplating his arrest. And yet, I find that I’m okay with having my schadenfreude taken from me. Besides, I still have Parscale’s perp walk to look forward too. Somehow, I’m looking forward to that one even more than Junior’s.

Why not spill the beans on Trump and get a reduced sentence in CLUBFED.

Yes let’s talk about Mueller and Putin and Shroomy. I’m really tired of talking about women abusers whining about how hard their lives are.

I would pardon Jack the Ripper to get to Trump.

I’m glad he listened to his father. I’m hopeful others will start looking at their place in history and start making the right decisions too.

It’s entirely possible Mueller’s team has put Cohen and Manafort into a type of Prisoners Dilemma. Whoever cooperates first on the Russian Conspiracy may get a better outcome.

There are obviously barriers against that level of cooperation (or they’d both have played that chip by now). Adding the risk that the other guy will talk first puts both under additional pressure.

Yeah it appears that Mueller is a master of these kind of techniques.

What an exhausting couple of weeks.

Woot, a trio of money laundering, conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of justice… and another Friday awaits.

It’s been like this since the 2016 elections. :persevere:

God, I wish he would drop some more indictments. Rosenstein would have to approve, and given Trump is signaling he will fire Sessions to try to interfere with the investigation post election, they have a reasonable justification for interpreting the 60 day rule not to apply (since Trump is NOT a candidate).

You can bet that Cohen is squealing like a pig to try to save his hide. And my guess is that anyone sleezy enough to have hired Cohen to begin with, has a lot of dirt (or more accurately dirty $$$$) that is hidden.

If Spanky fires Sessions, Rosenstein is next in line to head the DOJ. Spanky’d have to 1) both fire Sessions and also get a replacement through the Senate confirmation process or 2) fire Sessions and Rosenstein and whoever else is in line that’s not a devout loyalist to Spanky.

Cohen will know about Trump’s financial connections to Russia, and the sources of “influence” (remember this entire investigation was opened as a counter espionage probe since the FBI thought the Russians were trying to get close to Trump), I doubt he is privy to the details of any conspiracy with the Russians (via agreements or data sharing) although he may be able to testify that Trump had knowledge at certain points (e.g. before the Don, Jr. meeting for “dirt”) which are key.

Manafort may know about any quid pro quo for Russian help, or any sharing of targeting data (via Cambridge analytica, or from Brad Percale) which has always been one area that conspiracy was likely.

My guess is the information they have does not overlap.

I know someone who threw a happy 1-year anniversary of the biggest inauguration ever. I cast my memory back and realized it’s only been 18 months. Why do I feel so old?

Pretty sure both Cohen and Manafort have knowledge of the “Trump Towers Meeting”.

I think this is the first firm evidence we’ve had that the OSC is actually pursuing obstruction of justice (OoJ) for dangling a pardon. I’ve suspected that Manafort’s caving in was due to the OSC convincing Manafort’s attorneys that any pardon of Manafort would result in OoJ charges so it would be unlikely to happen.

Still, I want to know who ABC’s “sources” are. Does Cohen benefit from this being leaked?
