Sooner or later, there will be a GLORIOUS Twitter meltdown.
I’m not convinced there’s going to be a financial smoking gun in Manafort’s finances that directly implicates Trump in something nasty/illegal, but I’ll be plenty happy enough when Manafort goes down for his own personal failings.
When we get to that stage, I’m gonna celebrate every indictment in a vacuum, without stressing too much about who else Mueller has or hasn’t already nailed down.
I don’t know more than the generals the way Trump does, but I’ve read about the famous military principle called Schwerpunkt in German, the doctrine of concentrating your forces on decisive focal points. Mueller’s team obviously sees Manafort as the linchpin to the collusion. This is no fishing expedition. It’s more like what you do when you know exactly where to look for what you want.

Manafort’s attorneys keep insisting that he’s not a cooperating witness but that doesn’t ring quite true since he is believed to be the source of Junior’s and Kush’s meeting(s) with the Ruskies last year.
When one’s nuts find their way into Mueller’s vise and he begins to turn the screws, it’s only a matter of time before uncooperative becomes cooperative. Pretty Boys like this lot aren’t trained to withstand an ounce of pressure.
Fox News is going to go full hair on fire about Mueller being out of control and out to get Trump.
Trump is going to watch hair on fire coverage across several Fox time slots.
Trump is going to collapse in a sulking lump of apoplexy and anger.
Trump is going to engineer Mueller’s firing, contrary advice and pleadings of all advisers and family be damned.

The cursory impression I’ve gotten is Manafort’s pretended to cooperate fully but hasn’t. And being cute like that isn’t really wise when a team like Mueller’s is thundering down on you. Very unwise, actually. These crooks think they’re smarter than everyone but the only people they’re outsmarting are themselves.
It’s unwise unless a certain person has committed to pardoning you.
I doubt Manafort is under any illusions about what a promise from Trump is worth.
Were he to be pardoned, Manafort could be compelled to testify. If he refuses? Civil contempt. Jailed until he complies. Presidential power of pardon doesn’t apply to anything civil, only criminal.
As long as you don’t call it a “witch hunt”, it stresses the hell out Kellyanne Conway.

Yeah, like Trump has gamed all that out. Or is willing to devote more than 3 minutes to an attorney vainly trying to explain it to him.

Trump gets scared(er), he’ll behave differently. Unpredictably, but differently.
