I supect it went more like this:

Trump: That Electoral College stuff is too confusing…Let’s just have a popular election for President next time, because, I’m the most popular President of all time.

McConnell: While true, Mr. President, the Electoral College is actually part of the Constitution and would require a Constitutional Amendment. That means 2/3 of EACH house must ratify it AND 3/4 of the states have to ratify.

Trump: Oh…Ok, well, then never mind.

Since it was a meeting of “senior Congressional leaders” (not just Republicans), McConnell would not have said out loud that the EC actually greatly benefits the Republicans.

You mean a national alternative vote, right?

Shouldn’t that be a full-on twitshow?

The EC is an affirmative action program for states composed of majority disadvantaged, white people. Same with tthe Senate. And since that isn’t enough for this suppressed majority we have gerrymandering as well. Now it’s all fair. /s

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) worried that one idea floated by Republicans — a refundable tax credit — would not work for middle-class families that cannot afford to prepay their premiums and wait for a tax refund.

Hey Mitch: How’s about we replace the Electoral College with Trump University? I’ll give you a slice. C’mon…Be a guy…

If the electoral college did was it was supposed to do and kept fools such as the donald out of office I would be all for it, but alas, as we all know this didn’t happen. If we must keep the electoral college lets fix it so everyone is represented equally, no more California having one vote per 677,345 people and Wyoming having one vote for every 187,875 people.

Yes. but he’s a moron. He’s convinced that he’d win the popular vote no problem if he campaigned for it.

I say this is a nice wedge issue. Support trump’s proposal. Let him fight the GOP. Tell him he’s smart and that it’s a brilliant idea. See if the GOP can keep him under control.

Missed this and Melania’d your joke, but only in a “thousand monkeys with typewriters” kind of way. Sorry.

He doesn’t want the Constitutional amendment that eliminates the Electoral College.

He wants the Constitutional amendment that eliminates the Electoral College, declares his popular vote victory with a landslide majority of legal voters, declares that his inaugural crowd was the largest of all time, and declares him President for life.

It would also repeal the 22nd Amendment, but he doesn’t know it exists.

Now Trump thinks he can overrule the US Constitution by his lonesome.
Fuck you, Donny. And all the rest of your Republican shitfucks.

I think he’s probably looking forward to a relaxing weekend of lying around watching the tube, after working so hard all week.

Further evidence (as if we needed any) that he is a complete and utter imbecile. He doesn’t even understand the mechanism that got him into the White House.
