Discussion: Report: Manafort To Provide Notes From Trump Tower Meeting To Senate Panel

Anybody* out there dumb enough to trust these notes to be complete and accurate?

*Excluding republican senators, of course.

Trump Tweets: Manafort better hope there aren’t any tapes of that meeting. Sad! Bad! Mad! Dad!

LOL

He is trying to fabricate his way into being taken as seriously as Comey was.

Pathetic.

I’d like to know what those notes say about Kushner’s involvement.
Manafort probably has contemporaneous notes about the meeting—that’s what I would expect of a professional. I think there is some chance the notes will be genuine.

That’s a good insight. ā€œNotesā€ are the new badge of truth.

Manafort hasn’t made a ā€œpre-emptiveā€ strike like Comey did, or as Kushner tried to do. Every day’s a different clown fiesta lol

If any part of Manafort’s account contradicts Kushner’s that’s an interesting data point.

From ā€˜under oath’ to ā€˜just testify - no oath’ to ā€˜written notes’…my how the mighty ā€˜rule of law’ sanctimonious BS the GOP spews, has fallen…

I’m guessing they are going to bear a striking resemblance to these notes:

Unless (as a professional) he was smart enough to know there should be no written record of such a meeting, even private record.

Both are plausible, I think.

What is very likely is that Manafort is invested in protecting exactly one person. I don’t see him falling on a sword to hold up the lies of Don Jr. and Jared, when those are likely to be exposed by other means, anyway.

Fun times…

Is it me, or are these guys playing it really dumb? Instead of Manafort coming clean with Congress in exchange for some limited immunity, he hems, haws, and ultimately comes up short, infuriating them and forcing their hand to issue a subpoena. This was apparently done in the absence of a promise for future legal protection in return. Sure I don’t know the backroom stuff. Is he just counting on a pardon? Because from what I’m feeling Trump is considering pardons only BEFORE you officially get in trouble.

Makes two of us! It could be anything. He could be honestly resisting, or this could be a show of reluctance we shouldn’t take at face value. The only guess I’d hazard is that Manafort is a smart guy who knows a lot and is in a lot of trouble himself from multiple directions. So I don’t think any sort of self-sacrificing loyalty to Trump is at work here.
