Rain?
Wait… wasn’t this supposed to be a “working” vacation?
Wait again … trump has taken every single weekend off since the inauguration. And he has the gall to whine about the work habits of others? He’s played more golf that Arnold Palmer did in his prime these past 6 months.
I have Jimi Hendrix “Rainy day, dream away…” running thru my head…
But of course the real problem isn’t an undisciplined staff; it’s an infantile POTUS. This is how Kelly will fail. If he enforces even the smallest bit of discipline on Trump, Trump will resent it. Maybe not at first, but eventually he’ll want to “show” Kelly who’s boss. He won’t do that by direct confrontation. He’ll do it by backstabbing him. He’ll go around Kelly and encourage others to go around Kelly. Eventually, Kelly will find himself on the outside looking in, with everyone just ignoring his directives and perhaps snickering at his inability to control them.
The problem is both.
Kelly may be able to impose some discipline - temporarily - on the staff but they too will chafe at it, especially the privileged ones like Ivanka and Jared.
Those two especially will have access to the tRump outside of office hours as well.
As for the rest of it, I see it playing out exactly as you describe. The tRump will not be handled or constrained for long. He is smarter than everyone else, including “his” generals and will feel the need to dominate Kelly and assert his authority shortly after they get back to DC.
If not before.
Seems to some Rs it was an interesting but now clearly failed experiment.
And now I do too. Great stuff.
And you know our boy never works. So he doesn’t take working vacations. He just sits around like the hog he is.
Ha! Since I wrote the one this morning and now, we closed up the computers and took the grandkid to the Exploratorium in The City. I recommend it.
