Melania likely objected to Ivanka being in loco FLOTUS. With Jared taking on the masterful role, she will now be a submissive house frau which looks good to the base. I assume someone made it very clear to her that the GOP was not interested in her signature issues (women’s pay and benefits, global warming) and that her role is Daddy whisperer when Jared needs to sleep.

Looks like Bannon convinced Trump that Ivanka was too moderate for this administration and they needed a full on alt-right player in that seat. Trump will likely put Ivanka in charge of his businesses and that’s about as “blind” a “trust” as we’re going to get out of the grifter in chief.
