Discussion: Report: Hillary Clinton Exclusively Used Personal Email While At State Dept

Discussion for article #233868

Good grief how stupid can you be. It is almost as if the Clintons cannot help themselves when it comes to creating drama, scandal and mis-steps. The Right is going to have a field day with this one and Benghazzi will once again be front and center.

There has be another Democrat that can run in 2016

It doesn’t take much to remind me of why I was so happy to vote for Obama in the 2008 Democratic primaries.

This was very dumb if nothing else. Most likely she did it out of convince like many do but the wild speculation about coverups, and conspiracies has already begun

Yet more Clinton hatred from the Screw York Times.

Sheez, how stoopid can HRC get?

Jaw-droppingly dumb. And, did no one at State or the White House - or the technology department in the basement- try to get her to switch to a government account that would have fewer questions about compliance and transparency?

Huh? Are you saying the Times made up the story? Are you saying it is the Times fault that goverment officials are calling her to task for it? It was a glaring bit of stupdity on Clinton’s part, a mis-step that could have easily been avoided and will once again just creat more drama and scandal around a Clinton.

So … being private and all, which one’s should I release?
This one makes me look good … OK
This one not so much
Wow, like this one … decisive, determined!

This was incredibly stupid.

Going forward, the GOP will claim all sorts of misdeeds (Benghazi! to the nth degree) about which emails were destroyed. Hillary’s camp can argue truth, but they’ll be arguing against a negative, and that’s always guaranteed to lose.

Why the hell did this happen?

Yes, I AM saying that the Screw York Times decided to go on another Clinton hate binge!

This is just astonishing bad practice. WTF?

  1. There is just no way to have not known – even for low level federal employees this is made very clear, and certainly for high level officials their staff and the career IT people in the dept would be well aware of record keeping requirements.

Of course this also means that noone else in the government was troubled by her emails coming from @aol.com or whatever instead of @state.gov, which is also disturbing.

  1. It’s not just recordkeeping, it’s security. Government IT isn’t perfect, but it is harder for a foreign intelligence service to break into government email systems via technical means or social engineering than it is to get at someone’s Hotmail account. Google is probably better at security than most commercial email providers and they’ve been hit hard by the Chinese going after specific government and business officials.

  2. Classified material? Did Clinton do business w/o ever using classified email? In theory you shouldn’t even be able to send to / receive from classified systems on the regular internet. Maybe anything classified she had staff handle and she just read hardcopies, gave verbal responses “tell Hagel ‘yes’ on that”, or whatever. But it does seem odd one way or the other.

  3. Anyone halfway attentive to politics would remember that this was sort of big deal when the Bush White House was caught doing it; hard to plead ignorance.

  4. Of course, someone very attentive to politics would remember that despite blatantly violating the Presidential Records Act, including setting up entire workaround email systems, the Bush White House got not much more than a sternly worded letter as punishment, and so maybe that was her calculation…

Guess who Clinton learned from?

Appropos of what Joe Bacon says above, I heard a report last night that Kerry is the first Secretary of State to use a state.gov address for his official emails. If that’s true, that puts this story in a different context, doesn’t it?

OK. So are you also saying what she did wasn’t wrong and doesn’t look terrible an wasn’t glaringly stupid. Most importantly it is another unforced error on the part of a Clinton that we be fodder for the right.

Well that makes it OK then. [eye roll]

No he isn’t. The rule was set in place just after Colin Powell’s tenure.
