Discussion: Report: Hackers Who Compromised DNC Also Targeted Think Tanks

Guess who??

There must be a few journalists working overtime to expose the full story on Manafort. These cyberattacks only give more motivation to find the dirt.

… my thinking being that Trump can’t survive showing a direct chain of contact to and from Putin. If Russia truly is planning to hack election machines, Trump needs to be buried completely before Nov. 8.

I suspect over the next decade, Russia will be sorry they started this cyber-snooping and cherry-picked info sharing with the likes of WikiLeaks. Payback from Americans–rightly or wrongly–can be hell. Especially considering America is home to the likes of Silicon Valley. We are the hub, the world’s home if you will, of cyber technological advances. Not a threat, Russia, a warning. Well … a threat too, but a provoked one. Happy Day, Mr. Putin.

Stuxnet is an example of what happens to people who piss us off.

Exactly. Hate to say it, but the many bugs you and I–the lay people–must put up with during our normal days, are a feature not … well a bug. They create these programs with the knowledge that our “enemies” (known and unknown) will use them as well. That way, we know their vulnerabilities, their weaknesses. I know this is not 100% their intent, but it’s a fair part of their “thinking.”

The Alt Right Curious Facebook Trumpsters have already concocted a deep and detailed conspiracy theory about how this stuff about Russian hacking is all entirely made up by the corrupt MSM because of their abiding love of Crooked Hillary.

It’s bad enough that they swallow propaganda hook line and sinker. But the thing that really seems to make them deeply crazy is the Facebook conspiracy theory collaborative fan-fic.

Don’t be too sure of that. Russia and China cultivate and train hackers and have government programs to sharpen their skills and develop extensive team efforts. America sends people from intelligence and law enforcement agencies to recruit homegrown hackers from the wild.

It’s like the difference between 1970’s Olympic Teams. That’s where we are now. The eastern bloc recruited them as children and pumped them full of hormones and trained them relentlessly while America continued it’s hypocritical yet naive emphasis on maintaining the “purity” of their amateur status, defrocking people who took an endorsement deal or a free meal, and the result was that we were always in contention but never dominating the way we are now that everything is professionalized.

Sounds like we are far behind in this new era of propagandist cyber-war. Sigh. On some levels, we really suck. Some, not all.

No one has presented any proof that Russia / Russians have anything to do with hacking the DNC, and these hacks described here. It’s only PC bullshit so far as I’ve read, and this author is fawning to those PC liars in this article. Putin is a great leader, probably one of the most competent on the planet. Somebody in the Russian government or a citizen could be involved, but then again, probably are not, until proven anyhow. America would be a better nation with Putin and Lavrov as our president and secretary of state, both of whom are real leaders, and Obama and Kerry are only loudmouth puppets and boy toys, hypocrites to the max.

Putin is a great leader, probably one of the most competent on the planet.

Better pack your umbrella…thunderstorms predicted for Moscow today. The 15-day forecast is for a good deal of rain ahead for Moscow and environs.

If the DNC hacks contain some of the same code and signatures of known Russian hacks from the past it is a case of looks like a duck…

As for code being bug free in my 45+ years in the business, code was known to be bug free only until the next bug was found. I developed some code in the late 60s is still in use today, about 5 years ago I was contacted about a bug found within the code, that was some 40 years later. Same as with bugs the code is hack free only until the next hack and that hack will 100% of the time leave traces behind.

Thank you, comrade.

The hackers are like gossip hounds. Just really, really curious about what people are saying about them.

Pro tip to hackers, hacking us makes us talk more shit about you and have to plot more against you. So you hack more which causes more of the same from us.
So, stop hacking, get out of bed with HO, (the other ho) and mind your business or we’ll cold slap you.

When Russia had their last Olympics, NBC did a demonstration with someone to show just how aggressive the Russians are with their cyber attacks.

Phony hookups with a cell phone and a laptop were used. I can’t recall who the reporter was, but the American cyber security specialist showed exactly how it works. They were in the hotel room. No sooner had the mobile devices been turned on, the hackers hit.

So, when you go there, you are automatically at risk. This is like mother’s milk to them.

Pretty much a waste of time to hack a republican think tank.

The US anti-hacking position is just a little bit compromised by the NSA. It has the probably best chops in the field, but has part of its operations dedicated to finding vulnerabilities and not telling manufacturers about them, and another part is dedicated to inserting new vulnerabilities into both existing products and standards for new products.

Or not. Who knows. We’re talking about the Espionageworld Hall of Mirrors and Epistemic Crisis House o’ Fun here. You don’t know what you don’t know, don’t know that you know what you know and don’t know how much of what you think you know is only what they want you to think you know.

All of which is why you always need to take everything Seymour Hersh writes with a large pinch of salt. Ditto Woodward’s CIA book.

I would think comrade omahhum never leaves its basement. It appears to be completely isolated from the climate as well as reality.
