Discussion: Report: GOP Candidates Will Discuss Debate Changes Without The RNC

Discussion for article #242336

Is this going rogue or being stupid?

Nevermind, it’s the same thing.

maybe they could consider changing the rules to include actual debate over facts instead of vacuous name calling and allowing someone to state 'I don’t believe your facts its your ‘opinion’ not mine…

its nearly criminal that the RNC, with the acquiescence of the participants, try to choose safe venues and moderators that won’t ask real questions…

10 people on a stage for 2 hours, meaning each would get 12 minutes of ‘debate’ time is never ever going to add anything to a voters perception of any candidate in an informed and thoughtful manner…

The revolt from the establishment–and from reality–continues apace.

It’s hard to imagine where politics is going to end up in two or three years (let alone ten!), since these bozos don’t seem about to wake from their fever dreams.

Remember: The GOP changed the debate format from 4 years ago to be MORE friendly to the GOP. This is the result.

So much softness here. Answer the questions, Wussies. Also: If you only scrimmage against cupcake teams, with “no-contact” rules, you’re destined to be humiliated when you have to suit up for interleague play against the Big Girls.

Slaughter awaits.

My thoughts exactly.

Don’t they have a campaign to run ? They would rather be concerned with setting debate rules.
Then again, when did the republicans ever conform to anything normal.

It’s like they’re all deciding how to rearrange the chairs on the deck of the Titanic when they should be lowering their individual lifeboats.

I’m amazed they’re acting so stupidly.

The plan is not to leave the Bubble, ever, but rather to increase the Bubble’s coverage.

I don’t know why.

I agree. 10 is too many. They should break it into smaller groups. And the selection process for who goes in which group should look a bit like american ninja warrior.

I guess because 12 years ago they were frighteningly cohesive.

Now they’re so discombobulated it’s stunning how it all fell apart so quickly.

They should replace the whole thing with tests of agility, courage, and brute strength.

Survivor!

Or just give them all handguns and let the last man standing lose against Hillary.

Looks like Reince should burnish that old resume…

I think I said in another blog it should be Hunger Games…

I think they are focusing on the small stuff. They really need to split into two parties – one [small] group of largely “sane” adults who happen to have bad policies and another group of grifters and sociopaths. Each group should run a candidate in the general. Leave the RNC behind.

Who is Hitch in the last paragraph?

“Our continuous complaint is candidate exclusion and the delusional debate polling criteria. It’s unacceptable,” Hitch said. “Maybe this meeting will change that, maybe it won’t. But we aren’t going to shut up about it.”

Should that have been Gitcho? Or is that another spokeperson?

Is this how the Republican party ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper?

I was about to say that around the beginning of this year, the GOP was very concerned about tightening up the debate process such that not as many Americans could actually watch the damned things.

Fast forward to now only to see the GOP debate process devolve even more than Rinse My Prius could imagine. NOT necessarily because of the debates themselves but due to the Insane Klown Posse that’s participating in them.

Tom Bergeron should host. After every debate a panel of assembled billionaire judges should vote one of them out of the campaign. They should also hide immunity idols in the green room.
