Yup, it’s not “collusion” or “election hacking” that’s going to get these guys. It’s going to be garden-variety financial crimes, and I’ll bet there are plenty of them out there, involving almost everyone Trump has ever been involved with.
Laundering, Money. There will be some of that, Manafort high on that list.
In fact, that’s the one that could actually get Trump himself. Russian money flowing into his little empire, a lot of it coming from god-knows-where.
Big article on Kian that I read a month ago. Need to dust it off. I believe Kislyak was at the same ball where this photo was taken. Russia and Turkey had a common interest in Syria: Keeping ISIS afloat. Turkey wants ISIS around to keep the Kurds at bay. Russia wants ISIS around to keep moderate Sunni political parties at bay.
A Casino would be a great place to launder money. Even if Trump knew nothing about it (or knew and claims not to have known), he looks like a fool for having it happen under his nose.
I’ve mentioned this before, but Manafort is under local investigation here in NYC for buying lots of real estate with cash from overseas shell companies. It appears he also then took out mortgages on some of them. This while communicating with Russian mobsters known for money laundering. But of course it’s all a coincidence not worthy of investigation…
Just amazing this stuff is leaked out.
The Feds should probably be interested in anyone Flynn has talked to in the past 2-3 years.
Yes. My opinion on this is that the financial crimes stretch back 20 years or more.
Perhaps not so amazing. When Trump went out of his way to diss both the Intel Community and the Press, he made thousands of highly motivated enemies with the wherewithal, when properly motivated, to find out everything.
I think the NYT had an article about background on Flynn this past Sunday and his lobbying efforts. He shared office space with his friend Stanley McCrystal for one of his consulting schemes. I gotta hope the rest of these former military guys aren’t so crooked/inept as Flynn.
Why couldn’t Flynn have done the normal thing that retired generals do – go to work for the defense industry with an inflated paycheck for services rendered in delivering weapon systems contracts while at the Pentagon?
There was a pretty abrupt change in the Trump realty business starting about 2 years ago - all of a sudden the majority of his real estate deals are with LLCs that conceal the identity of the actual buyers (from USA Today and other sources). Real estate is a pretty good way to launder dirty money - the buyer overpays by a lot, the seller kicks back some of the overage and pockets the rest. The buyer now has some “clean”(er) cash on hand and property that can be resold to clean the rest of the money.
I just experienced a colonoscopy. I suggest something similar for all the Russian influence crowd under investigation.
I hope that there is a firm provable connection between Flynn and VP Pence that dooms any chance Pence will be the next POTUS.
That’s a lot like deciding that an ill-tempered sawtooth viper (or mamba, for that matter) would be an excellent pet for hand-feeding.
Gee it is almost like Don the Con pissed off someone, someone with some power.
Shorter list - those in this administration who are not under investigation:
- White House parking attendant
- Second shift White House phone operator
- Breakfast shift White House dishwasher*
*This one is a bit shaky; his Green Card may be a fake.
…which takes us to Paul Ryan.

Bijan Kian. I remember that name from way back, maybe Bush era around the time of the Iraq war. I know he was from California, super brilliant and well educated and he served on a state agency and later was pres of the import-export bank and a bunch of other things. He has a long resume. But one thing I remember is that Kian was leader of some group that was lobbying to invade somewhere. I think it was Iran. He is Iranian. This reminded me of the people who were expelled by Castro always wanting to overthrow the regime in Cuba. My guess is that Kian, and Flynn were pushing to undermine the regime in Iran. This seems to be Trump’s foreign policy direction although I don’t think he formulated it. I think that Ezra Cohen-Watnick ( the guy McMaster unsuccessfully tried to fire) is part of the regime change in Iran group. Keeping Trump in office is necessary to fulfill their dream.
