This is not surprising in the least. They don’t want to actually have to account to anyone but themselves. I’ve noticed that most Conservatives are not actually about freedom, justice, or liberty, but rather about license to do whatever they want to do and not take the consequences.
As the late Terry Pratchett once said “no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the
freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which
all the others are based.”
And the Duggars don’t believe in freedom. All they believe in is hurting others and getting away with crimes.

Well, they did refuse it…by not cooperating… TPM certainly has some bad habits with headlines, but I fail to see a substantive difference on this particular one.
Frankly, the confusion I had from the word choice was that I thought they were talking about a welfare check…as in money…as in the state said “no more for you”, bu that’s obviously not the case.
