Discussion: Report: DHS Suspends Trips Abroad To Interview Refugees

How many people died because we wouldn’t take Jews fleeing Nazi Germany prior to entering WWII?

Never forget, my ass.

Back then Jews were seen as “other” and would never have been lumped with the good Christian folk. Today we talk about Judeo-Christian values.

Maybe in 50 years we will be talking about Abrahamic values, or perhaps I am being ridiculously optimistic.

No snark for this. It’s utterly contemptible. And as I recall the GOP leadership pretty roundly condemned the idea of a ban when Trump first proposed it. But he wasn’t looking likely to win at that point, so situational ethics and all that. So ashamed for my country.

Trump’s supporters will cheer every death of a Muslim asylum seeker.
I bet there are millions who see the picture of that drowned child at Lesbos and think to themselves “THANK GOD!”

Unfortunately, far too many Americans are fine with Trump’s policy here. As you’ve said, it’s shameful, reprehensible, and utterly unAmerican.

Though we’re headed for dark days, it seems to be cyclical in our history. The America I know always bounces back.

Trump: Some of the terrorists who carried out 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia but I am still allowing anyone from Saudi Arabia. I have business ties with them and they have too much money that I want .

This makes sense. Why would we want to find out that the refugees are just people like us–people who love their families and want the best for them, people who believe in the Golden Rule, people who suffer from forces beyond their control, unleashed by people with hardly a shred of humanity?

The GOP was isolationist in the 1930’s, as was the country. FDR wasn’t, but any move he made to help anyone or country in Europe was viewed as treason.

This doesn’t justify the immorality of it, but this was the objective historical situation.

Too bad for PeePee that over 9.7 million voters voted for someone other than him, and that’s not including write-ins or people who chose not to vote for anyone for president.

Funny how his 3 million number is just high enough to justify in his tiny pea brain his losing to HRC by nearly 2.9 million votes.

Numbers are readily available on Wikipedia

My point was that we did this same thing in the past, and promised “never again” would we allow it to happen.

And the people who are most hagiographic about war, the military and the Greatest Generation and their resolve to save the world from evil are the same ones who are ignoring history and dooming these people to death.

He’s got seven decades on the Earth. Making fun of his body is a little skeevy.

The shoes, though … wow.

It’s his vanity which is at issue. He says he looks and feels the same as he did when he was 35.

The order would also suspend issuing visas for those coming from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen for 30 days

The Sep 11 terrorists are from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Lebanon.

Trump has business interests in three of those four, with 12 companies registered in UAE, 8 companies in Saudi, 2 companies in Egypt.

None of them makes it to the list.

"promised “never again”’

The country just elected people who don’t care about history or promises.
