Special counsel is coming. McCabe’s testimony (imho) has now put Trump on a path to resignation. FBI rank and file will support him strongly. Dems will block appointment of FBI replacement. Arrests are reportedly coming soon. Trump is losing leverage and has few people who will execute on his behalf. Sessions may have been threatened by the Deputy AG. Could see him out too.

Huh. Just a wild guess, but I think Trump may have screwed the pooch by pissing on this guy. He might now be convinced that a special prosecutor is needed and is bringing that opinion to the Senate committee’s attention.

Trump will never resign. He can perhaps be removed forcefully, but even that’s a longshot given the level of GOP control. There will also be no peaceful transition of power should anyone other than Trump be elected in 2020.

Yep. Several ways to interpret this, but one obvious conclusion is that Rosenstein thought whatever he was up to was urgent enough to go this route.

I see Josh Marshall and others as trying to shame him into doing the right thing. That is, Marshall doesn’t really know one way or the other. But if Rosenstein has some integrity, reading what has been written about him the last few days might be motivating…
Pence is dirty, too. So is Kushner who brought him in as VP. Where have Jared and Ivanka been lately?
I just don’t think Trump has it in him to resign. I believe he will have to be forced out and unless there is something really really big, the Republicans won’t have the stomach for it.
