Discussion: Report: Dem Rep. Settled Complaint From Staffer Alleging Sexual Misconduct

Disappointing to say the least.

I think guys have no idea what the workplace is like for women. And I think they have no idea how much women (if all are friends) share with each other what’s going on. I remember when my wife had a miscarriage, Imentioned it before a meeting and all the women started talking about each other’s pregnancy issues and struggles. They obviously knew a lot about each other.

Of course I had no idea about anything they talked about. Nor did I know any details of any male co-worker’s personal life. It was just a peek behind the curtain for me. The experience of women in the place that I worked was very different from mine.

Asshole guys who thought hey could abuse without consequence may have been correct until now. But they did not act in secret, and I reckon they didn’t know that.

Dear John Conyers,

It’s time to announce that you will not run for reelection so that you can, “spend more time with your family.” That is all.

Love,

Ken in MN

Will a woman run to replace?

Not to say I don’t believe this…but it is interesting that now we have dirt on a Dem. member of the house judiciary committee.

There were many many many settlements. The people with access to this list will make big political us of it.

Good call, I noticed that as well. Also that Cernovich is mysteriously in the mix doesn’t smell right. I used to be very proud of Rep Conyers.

I’m sure that men’s rights activist MC has the women’s best interests at heart.

Bottom line: Men are assholes, across the political spectrum.

If this is how these things are going to come out, Dems better open up their oppo files and fire away. Any pretense that this moment (or hopefully more than a moment) of heightened consciousness won’t be used politically is now blown out of the water.

Given Conyers’ age, it would be a sexual favor, indeed.

It certainly would be one of those, “Strike while the iron is hot” kind of times…

One has to wonder just how worried Roger Stone is by Mueller and his team if he could orchestrate a political hit job on Al Franken while supposedly under investigation.

If every member of Congress—both houses—who has made unwanted advances to a woman were to resign, there wouldn’t be enough members left for a quorum.

This is all getting way out of hand.

I’d seen that he knew about it beforehand, and there was a (lame?) explanation why that was perfectly natural, but was there more pointing to his involvement?

I could not agree with you more.

Does this mean that EVERY man in a position of power is going to have his background checked and rechecked for some sort of wrongdoing that involves a women claiming misconduct? I also believe that some of these allegations are being used for their own purposes and not for the purpose of helping women in their search for come closure.

As far as I’m concerned, this has a whiff of the “recovered memories” episode of the late 1980’s.

Nothing other than my suspicion that it reeks of a Stone hit job. Both women were Republicans and supported Trump. The latest one did try to mitigate that fact by saying she was pretty sure she voted for Amy Klobuchar once.

It’ll pay to be careful in parsing what it is that is getting out of hand.

Why is that exactly?

Are you implying that a women’s word is simply sufficient without a full investigation of the facts at hand?
