“Erickson said Russia would use the National Rifle Association’s annual

Huh?

“Putin is deadly serious about building a good relationship with Mr. Trump,” Erickson wrote in the email, according to the New York Times. “He wants to extend an invitation to Mr. Trump to visit him in the Kremlin before the election. Let’s talk through what has transpired and Senator Sessions’s advice on how to proceed.”

I wonder if this Paul, son of Erick, is related to Erick, son of Erick ?

Um - let’s talk through… “Senator Sessions’s advice…” Guessing Jeff is going to have to go back to the Senate Intel. committee, again.

NRA?

In the last week, wasn’t there some Russian oligarch type (likely Putin buddy) who was mentioned as a NRA member or some such thing???

Okay. I get it now.

At first, I believed that the Trump Campaign wanted to talk to Russia… but that’s pretty clearly not the case. What happened was Russia wanted to talk to Trump. And, (and this bit is key), the people trying to make contact were apparently instructed to use the least secure and most traceable methods available to create the outreach. At this point, I’m thinking George Papadopoulos’s confession was planned from the beginning by his handlers. The plethora of contacts and out-reach, in and of itself, constitutes kompromat. That the Trump campaign was so stupid and eager to engage was just a bonus for Vlad.

Not to worry… I’ve not suddenly adopted a Trump-as-victim mindset… I’ve just come to see this as Trump as a stupid dupe, a total idiot cluelessly accepting “gifts” from Vlad that were going to end his Presidency, should he win. Now Putin is working hard to undermine the Lying Orange Urine-Stain’s Presidency, because that serves Vlad’s purposes.

There’s going to be a steady, continuing stream of these sorts of stories until the U.S. Government comes to a complete dysfunctional halt.

Maybe true? But I think even the Russians were surprised by what a complete dope Trump turned out to be after he publicly invited the Russians to release Clinton’s hacked e-mails.

So which (if any) Trump campaign aides/officials went to the NRA convention in KY?

Don Jr

I thought I read recently that D. Trump Jr went to one of those meetings to meet someone about campaign. Anyone here recall?

at this point, the only thing which would surprise me is if NAMBLA was trying to broker a meeting because of shared values—and I wouldn’t bet against such news coming out unless I received heavy odds.

It’s not gay if you only tap gun barrels.

I got that too. What is this with the NRA and the Russkies?

It was some dude who wanted to meet with Jared Kushner—Torshin? a banker—who ended up next to Don Jr at an NRA dinner.

Would it not be wonderful if the NRA got into a mess?

I know I’ll get flamed for this, but:

  1. I know Donnie said “no contact with Russia” and there’s obviously been contact, but…
  2. Is meeting with Putin before the election illegal or unethical?
  3. We don’t even know how Trump’s people responded.
  4. We know the meeting didn’t take place.

I hate to say it, but perhaps this particular story actually IS a nothing-burger?

Well, yes, that was certainly one of the baits they used to snare him. And he and his campaign were/are such complete rubes that they took that bait. There’s no excuse for being that stupid. (Inherited wealth, don’t you know, causes that kind of stupidity.)

While attending an NRA event last year, Donald Trump Jr. met with a Kremlin-connected banker who’s allegedly tied to organized crime groups in Europe, his lawyer confirmed Monday.
